Match play is fun and exciting . If BF2 pubs are getting a little stale, I would encourage players to try clan/match play.
that would mean getting a headset and using voip.. i can feel my ears bleeding already :|:

      Re: The Truth About CAL

After playing for years on the Internets in games like CS, DoD, NS, etc. there will allways be a point when CAL will take interest in a game. What sticks out after all those years of experience is that the small portion of overinflatened ego's in said league gives the rest a bad name. Those and the group of wannabee's that surround the superego's. Apart from those two groups the rest of the peeps are kinda ok.

How can you have the gaul to crown someone a world champion when your only playing a small number of players from one continent. What about the rest of the world do we not count are north americans so vastly superior to the rest of us that we shouldnt get a look in.
HOT was considered a world champion in that article because they placed 2nd at a very big lan. This lan was broadcasted on DirecTV (a nation satilite TV service here in the US). At this lan Code7, the best clan from Europe, played and lost in the first round. HOT is not considered the team they are solely on their performance in CAL. In fact, for them CAL is probably the least of their concerns. Regardless, they are not really a champion considering they lost to 20id in the finals. You have to expect a MUSIC magazine to not have all the facts right. No one in CAL is ever named the world champion.

Until that lan Europe was for a long time considered superior to North America and in the bf2 world tournament every team but HOT and Warchild made it very far from NA. Most of the top finishing teams were European.

but.. as i said earlier, a team of the top pubbers (no not the medic/support players from karkand...), would obliterate most CAL clans right untill they got up to the top division, where they would get some good tough games.
If you look at the new tournaments section that is exactly the kind of game CAL would like to organize. Regardless, if you want to see how good CAL really is download bfpro and check out the bfpro pub.

I wouldnt go as far as calling any continent or country superior to the next. And especially not based on some LAN event (some clans cannt even afford to participate), LAN events only attract a small portion of any gaming community and its only a reflection of how things stand at that precise moment in time.

That is true but this was much much more than any old lan. This was the Championship Gaming Invitational, where they invited the best bf2 teams in the world to come and compete. I do not think 20id's victory makes any continent better than the rest but up until that event Europe was considered much better than NA by most people (especially Europe).

Well I am not trying to bash the event in itself, but I know it is difficult to get all the top clans in one room at any point in time. Not to mention at full strength (wasnt Code7 allready on its way out by that time, some guys left right?).

I spend years in organizing stuff for Day of Defeat and I know that one (or maybe the best of all time) clan TWR was invited to a LAN in Texas (forgot which one, but it was big). The problem in the end for these guys was organizing funds to get there in which they did not succeed. Hence it derived from the tournament the claim it had the best lineup of clans in said competition.

Code7 was very geared up for the match. This tournament payed for the teams to be flown in.

Churrasco: Who the hell are you to look at someone's stats??(that aparently mean nothing to CAL) and a so called pubbers stats, and decide who is best, who the hell die and made you king, give me a freaking brake. With all due respect to the competitive CAL(and others) team players, there's always someone better and no one knows about him, because he is probably online having fun.

And to the other guy, please stop trying to start a country againts country stupid flame fest. Do you see anyone here saying the best BF2 player is american???? I know for a long time the top BF2(stats based) player was a brit if i am not mistaken. Look now is a japannese guy. So give me a brake and shove what came out of your mouth back up your brown whole.

I didn't mean to "look at their stats", but to actually see them playing.

Yes, there's a lot of people that play for fun only (like me), but if they are really very good people will never now. But I feel like if I accepted some clan invitation I'd be better than I am now.

Different times I guess, couple of years ago you had to organize and pay for it yourself :) Paying for the trip at least takes away the barrier of getting clans in from somewhere far away. Thats nice.

I'm going to have to tell my therapist about how inadequate I feel because I play on public servers:cry:

I changed my avatar so I at least look like a competitive gamer:laugh:

Do you really love the lamp, or are you saying it because you saw it?
