I've noticed the same things. I good portion of the complete smak-tards seem to have migrated into the 2142 environment. The completition these days is much better, and more fun than it was even three months ago.

totally agreed, i stopped bf2 for few weeks, then started playing few days ago. It was so much fun....
Never thought i would buy 2142 anyway...future warfare su**s

The problem with 2142, as I see it, is that long time BF2'ers were expecting something much more intense.

I'll admit, a full 2/3rds the unlocks for 2142 are totally useless, so why the hell would I wanna use them? Why even bother inventing them?

For once I agree with chris: this game was made for point whores, and doesn't promote any kind of team play at all.

lol, what a coincidence. After a year's rest, I've decided to see if this game was fixed yet, and I'm hooked again. We'll see for how long though...

I tried the demo and I can say it was okay titan modes kinda epic in scale and gives a direct objective for people to go after, not like BF2 where theres random people running in circles. Although in the end i thought they should've just made it as a mod and given it to us for free. If they did I'd be soo happy, or at least give us more maps!! Like 1942 sweet bliss.

game of the year.

I like bf2142 and I like bf2.
The games are diferent, bf2142 is more slow and has a lot of noobs that are playing this kind of game for the first time, and that´s why there are so many people saying that the game requires no skill...wait a few months and maybe then people can make judgements.
I think the problem with people calling haxor in this game is more in the U.S. server, here in Europe I rarely see people complaining (maybe I am being lucky, or the in the late hours I play kids are already in bed).
All in al, I still prefer bf2, bf2 is a more enjoyable experience, has faster and gritty gameplay and some very good players that I can´t find in bf2142.

Yet it is normal for people to walk about draped in adverts and to pay for the privilage.....

2142 is visually stunning, certainly in that respect it is superior.
To get BF2 players to abbandon accounts with hundreds of hours logged is unlikely to happen, who wants to be the n00b again.
I would agree that 2142 isnt a logical step for the Battlefield series, it is sci-fi and whilst the J10 balance in BF2 may be close to fantasy i think half the traditional appeal of the series is that it is based on reality.
It is a different game and they have tried to make improvements, it is at least now rewarding to play in a squad and your little achievements in game like a kill streak do get acknowledged. Also the lack of proper airpower in 2142 does make the gameplay a lot smoother and there are a raft of improvements which are all good. The players and conduct will improve with time, gameplay and tactics havent had a chance to evolve yet and really isnt anything special for a new game to attract a share of the idiots.

But i think if i had to choose between BF2 and BF2142 i would choose BF2, im not sure why exactly just the future world doesnt seem to make sense, im pretty sure in a hundred years time the principles of basic camoflage wont have changed so why are the soldiers running around with bright orange shoulder pads? Why is the best defence against the ultimate weapon on the battlefield to build stairs? If a sentry gun can hold that much ammo why can a Sniper only carry a few clips? etc..

I could go on and i know its just a game but i think that where the environment a game takes place in doesnt make any sense it is hard to become involved with the game.
