for those who want to migrate from bf2 to bf2142, here are some tips for you to help you reduce the shock form acting like a ultra-noob:
-First off, seriously you should really buy the game instead of playing it off others computer, the reason is that the game disk has a limit on how many account/computer that can be used. i found this the hard way when i played this on a LAN shop(thats what in my country we termed it as, in short, its a cybercafe).and i ended up using the shopkeeper's account to play...
-the gameplay has a policy which i assume that it goes like this: you are stripped of most of the equipment(e.g grenades, defillbarators and most of the other fancy stuff. excluding the wrench which looked like a handheld sewing machine and the med and ammo pack). so don't die so often in a round.
-for those who are not proficency in air combat, what shocks you heavyly will be the hover tank in the PAC side. for starter its movement is very spongy when u strafe it side by side(e.g its starts to tilt slightly when you strafe) this got even worst when you zoom in your cannons(a new feature to make up for the absence of a secondary fire weapon for the driver). the reason why i use air combat for comparison is that the hover tank movement has a slight feel in air combat
-with more powerful weapons in the future comes with a price, the recoil of the weapon is amazing large, even in single fire mode. even the sniper rifle is more realistic, i never expect that the cold will cause your hands to tremble and hence the crosshair to drift
-with better armor in the tanks resulted in a tank taking 4 shot before yeilding puts armor combat to a more challenging level(take that you tank whores)
-the ultimate defensive structure(read: the Titans turrets) has an ultimate drawback: its limited killing zone and the ability to fire in burst which is not accurate. so don't assume that spamming in a Titans turret gives you a ultimate weapon that kills everything.
-due to the absence of large airfield, planes have become obsolate and have being replaced by VTOL(Vertical Take Off and Landing) aircraft, effectively reduces the foodchain of air combat to the same level as dogfighting. armor combat, however, has a foodchain much longer than air combat to a extent it become like this:
combat food chain in bf 2142
infantry-> land/air transport-> apc-> tank-> battle walker-> VOTL aircraft-> AA infantry-> and so on...(all will be owned by 1 ultimate vehicle: both type 1 and type 2 Titans)
combat food chain in bf2
infantry-> land/air/sea transport->armor(apc and tank)-> helis->aircraft->AA nest-> and so on...(no ultimate vehicle)
note: i only played this game once in a LAN shop (as described above) and wouldn't be playing in a while since my PC is too lousy to support the game. i would, nevertheless, try to get the game once i got my new PC
