want to migrate from bf2 to bf2142? take note!!!

for those who want to migrate from bf2 to bf2142, here are some tips for you to help you reduce the shock form acting like a ultra-noob:

-First off, seriously you should really buy the game instead of playing it off others computer, the reason is that the game disk has a limit on how many account/computer that can be used. i found this the hard way when i played this on a LAN shop(thats what in my country we termed it as, in short, its a cybercafe).and i ended up using the shopkeeper's account to play...

-the gameplay has a policy which i assume that it goes like this: you are stripped of most of the equipment(e.g grenades, defillbarators and most of the other fancy stuff. excluding the wrench which looked like a handheld sewing machine and the med and ammo pack). so don't die so often in a round.

-for those who are not proficency in air combat, what shocks you heavyly will be the hover tank in the PAC side. for starter its movement is very spongy when u strafe it side by side(e.g its starts to tilt slightly when you strafe) this got even worst when you zoom in your cannons(a new feature to make up for the absence of a secondary fire weapon for the driver). the reason why i use air combat for comparison is that the hover tank movement has a slight feel in air combat

-with more powerful weapons in the future comes with a price, the recoil of the weapon is amazing large, even in single fire mode. even the sniper rifle is more realistic, i never expect that the cold will cause your hands to tremble and hence the crosshair to drift

-with better armor in the tanks resulted in a tank taking 4 shot before yeilding puts armor combat to a more challenging level(take that you tank whores)

-the ultimate defensive structure(read: the Titans turrets) has an ultimate drawback: its limited killing zone and the ability to fire in burst which is not accurate. so don't assume that spamming in a Titans turret gives you a ultimate weapon that kills everything.

-due to the absence of large airfield, planes have become obsolate and have being replaced by VTOL(Vertical Take Off and Landing) aircraft, effectively reduces the foodchain of air combat to the same level as dogfighting. armor combat, however, has a foodchain much longer than air combat to a extent it become like this:
combat food chain in bf 2142
    infantry-> land/air transport-> apc-> tank-> battle walker-> VOTL aircraft-> AA infantry-> and so on...(all will be owned by 1 ultimate vehicle: both type 1 and type 2 Titans)

    combat food chain in bf2
    infantry-> land/air/sea transport->armor(apc and tank)-> helis->aircraft->AA nest-> and so on...(no ultimate vehicle)

note: i only played this game once in a LAN shop (as described above) and wouldn't be playing in a while since my PC is too lousy to support the game. i would, nevertheless, try to get the game once i got my new PC

Yep an overall, very well balanced game. I love playing it, though i still kick around in bf2 every once and a while.

I play it with my guild, only for the sake of playing with my guild.

Still, I'll wait until the 'new game feel' dissapears, and the mass exodus of whiners begins.

Even it's RPG like features won't redeem the fact that it's an inferior game to it's own predecessor. A sad comparison to BF:V could be made in this case.

I bought Bf2142 and for some reason..I dont like it as much...I found this response on TBF2142 and found it as a perfect answer to why it sucks...

It's mediocre - not super bad, not super good. Mostplayers go for points - especially since the point system really doesn't care about whether yo uwin or lose - there is no real reward fora wine. Ironically you can get a medal for being killed enough in a round - the purple heart. Other issues are:
          - Drawdistance is not up to par. Vehicles disappear from sight even though you can see terrain much further. Often infantry is not even rendered below your titan. At the same time the enemy can see you from the ground - so it's clearly poor coding/poor engine.
          - Small arms are as inaccurate as ever and the random cone has been preserved. So all combat is up and very close since it's nearly futile to fire at 100m+.
          - Infantry is basically fodder in this game. Vehicles are all-important.
          - Maps are rather uninspired. They are clearly designed with vehicular combat in mind. No foliage, no buildings to enter, not a lot of details or ambience. Maps seem "barren" or "sterile".
          - Monstrous lag-issues when titans are moving, showing both poor performance testing and poor quality assurance all around.
          - It's the future, but vehicles perform worse than contemporary vehicles. E.g. tanks are slow, have no acceleration. Everything slides on the terrain so you can't sit still with a tank on a hill, for example.
          - Too many "smart" weapons where no skill is involved. Moving and seeking anti-vehicle mines is one example.
          - Ground based AA turrets too powerful against Titan defenseguns. One AA gunner can suppres an entire Titan underside.
          - The blackhawk-whoring of the first 3 months of BF2 has been revived with transports that are even easier to fly than choppers.
          - Gameplay is largely a flag-race instead of a fight, because of uninspired map-design and too many silos to take and hold.
          - The "crown jewel" of the game is the frantic figthing inside titans, which doesn't work at all if titan are moving (lag and clipping issues galore) and compared to similar fighting in 10 y/o games it's really not very good (Tribes 2).
          - The combat-area of the Titans is small" one outside hangar landing area50 feet across, one inside split-level cargo area of the same size, two 20 feet corridors and the reactor room the size of two large living rooms. Compared to any other game in history with indoor fighting, it's the smallest arena ever made. And they are of course completely identical for both sides, in spite of the fact that everything else is at least somewhat different.
          - Movements of soldiers is "boxy" - doesn't feel like a body but more of a small mech-warrior when you run around.
          ...some I added...
          - 2 armies wearing almost the exact same uniform is a pain, really hard to judge friend or foe in a fire fight sometimes.
          - pain in the arse changing weapons on the fly while in combat, very clunky
          - all in all game is very clunky and less fluid then Bf2
..nevertheless many are supremely enthusastic about the game and that can be enough to make it entertaining for you. Especially if you don't take it as a "serious" shooter-game.

            What i like at Bf2142:
            -verifying client data is awesome
-1st person graphics rox(the handheld weapons, the cammo)
-3p soldiers look quite good, at least lod0
-no more ammo/health bag spamming, slow healing, long reload
-attack helis arent pure pwnage anymore, TV guided really needs skill, so no click n kill anymore
            -weather fx are cool

same here...BF2 is so futile now compared to 2142. And wheoever said the maps are vehicle based is retarded. Yes certain maps are, but most maps there are crazy infantry fights going on.

I do agree with the lag situation on the titans...it is annoying. Yet idiot commanders still move the titan.

erm.. have you ever held and fired a rifle??

they have bipods so they dont sway and even if you didnt have a bipod its not hard to rest it on something or to hold it still.

swaying isnt realistic in the slightest, its just a nerf to stop snipers from hitting things as easily as they should.

I'm still in the camp of refusing to buy this game because of the in-game ads. I don't care if it's the best game ever invented, I won't support that move by the industry. Those of you who do will eventually regret it.

In any case, this is a BF 2 forum so put this in OT where those of us who still enjoy this game won't have to see it.

Wow almost perfect. I would like to add that the skins and textures really suck. All the statics in the mod... err game look really low quality. The maps lack detail... any detail. The maps also lack good layout for gameplay. And speaking of maps, what the hell is up with shipping less maps than previous BF games? We complained that previous games did NOT give us enough maps so their response is to cut back the map numbers even more?

Sniping is alot easier in BF2142 once you get the hang of it. You can get way more one shot kills! tha in BF2.

i was there in the beta sniping away with my screen going up and down and in circles like i had parkinsons and hitting people and not getting a single kill.
2142 is **** and dice are **** for their constant sniper hatred.
and you saying sniping is easier.. well it might be easier once you get some weapon upgrades, but the fact remains dice dont make realistic guns, they give the player parkinsons and replace the bullets with frozen peas!!
