I do have some questions for you though:

-How in the world can you possibly think I was talking about you in particular? If you are still able to play the game, you obviously did not get banned right? So much for good old common sense.

In replying to the OP you stated that 'like the guy who got banned' etc etc.
Weren't you likening him to me in that sentence?

-Who ever said anything about reporting anyone? I thought you'd know what they say about people that "assume".

It wouldn't have surprised me if someone had. Lots of people involved
in BF2 get their jollies that way. Probably the highlight of their lives.

-How can you possibly be disgusted by a thread asking if using 3rd party software to help in game is allowed and to what extent?

I was beginning to doubt whether it was allowed by some of the comments in here.

Seems to me that you have a chip on your shoulder Spaniard.

Why on earth would I have a chip on my shoulder?

So your eye sight is not what it used to be, or so you imply; is that any of our faults?

    Did I say it was?

I surmised your eye sight was bad after reading your post.

    Brilliant deduction.

Your reply had very little if anything to do with the inital post or my own reply.

Yes it did. I was the guy the poster was talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!

So before you start attacking people for something you obviously cannot comprehend try not to reduce yourself to the level of a common e-punk and follow your own advice :

    I'm done with this thread.
I would too after a reply like that.

No it's not. I play from Spain on a 1MB link.

My ping is never much below 100. Most other players I'm against
have pings as low as 20. This is a real handicap to shooting anyone

Not level at all is it?

Perhaps we should penalise players on low pings? Level the playing
        field a bit wouldn't it?

        =AAF=TheSpaniard.

My comment about being able to play a game as shipped was directed to those whom use macros, and similar software to get BF2 to play how they feel it should, and not how it was intended. It was not directed at your 61 year old self whom has trouble with thier eye sight. So accept my uneccesary apologies for your misconception of my post mmmkay?

Seems the odds in BF2 are just stacked against you huh? What a shame....

Yes i did get AutoHotKey and JoyToKey mixed up, let me clear that up.:p

So you think I should only be allowed to play on unranked servers?

I don't know what you're on buddy, but can I have some too?

Thank God we don't rely on you for making rules for the human race.

The fact that we are playing a game has no bearing on how permissible it is to use outside help to compete with other participants. That said, it would be wise of you to avoid assuming anything about my ability to make proper rules and guidelines, especially considering the tangential nature of my post in relation to yours. I can probably think circles around you, but that's a story for another day.

Let's avoid logical fallacies and concentrate on more cogent posts, grampa.

You're expected to play on servers located within acceptable distance of your network connection: if you choose to engage players outside of this boundary, you must accept the limitations you are imposing on yourself. Additionally, it would probably help your position if you challenged the overall nature of my post as opposed to nitpicking one specific portion which isn't even problematic (unless, of course, Spain and the surrounding area happen to be short on servers) in a general sense.

its wrong, why not play the game as it is, move to another map if u cant gun on dragon, I cant and I hate playing on it, I dont use any extra stuff, its cheap, if it gives u adventage over other players ITS WRONG, why even discuss it, I know u can probably do it on ur monitor or w\e but a good player wont lower him self to that level, hell get used to the hard way or just move to another map

If have absolutely no problem with a program that shortcuts to your standard video settings: my posts refer only to performance enhancing applications like macros and cheats. Why on Earth would I take offense to someone having the ability to reduce or increase contrast, brightness and gamma from within the game environment? This thread needs proper direction because people keep steering off-course.

I find it easier to use a tool made for the job rather than having to
reach over my desk every time a map changes to adjust brightness/
darkness or gamma settings. It's so much easier from the keyboard.

OMG what is the world coming to...

lighting will be perfect on dragon if u play with ur ettings but what will it be like on other maps?

I dont want to go change my monitor settings every time the server swiches to dragon valley

Your history of Spain also appears to be found wanting.
The area where I live didn't even have electricity 20 years ago, never mind
game servers. In short Spain is bereft of game servers.

Re: To what extent external help is acceptable?

I think metallica was being sarcastic. If changing your graphics settings is ban-worthy, changing your controls.con file would mean a death squad heading for your home in the dead of the night.
PS does nothing that you can't do from the options menu or your graphics drivers. It just sets up hotkeys to change profiles to suit your needs. I used to have different profiles set up for reading e-books, surfing the web, playing certain types of games, and watching movies. Many newer graphics card drivers have this functionality built in now. I know Nforce drivers allow this at least.

I lived enough of the music dream to suit me. I played drums in various little bands in and around Indiana and North Carolina. I had enough fame to get free beer and enough money to buy gas for the ride to the next gig or back home. Not enough to get an inflated ego over, just enough to live like a rockstar for a summer.

To the Spainard...i personally have no problem if you use powerstrip. However, dont let yourself get wound up by some of the more prominent posters on here. It aint worth it. Play the game how you want. Enjoy

Its wrong to turn the brightness up........why? All it does is move the monitor controls on to the keyboard.

Are you suggesting that everyone has to have the same gamma, colour and contrast settings for it to be not "cheap"? I think thats going too far.

What about people who can adjust mouse sensitivity on the fly, they can turn around faster....is that cheap? This debate opens a can of worms that will never be closed or resolved.

How is it cheap? My crappy Samsung CRT monitor has a button on the side that changes the gamma to different presets. It gets dim for text, a little brighter for web browsing, little brighter for games, brightest for movies. If I leave it on the text setting, I am 100% unable to watch movies. If I leave it on the movie setting, I get serious eyestrain while surfing these very forums. I put it on the game or movie setting for BF2. You probably have fiddled with your brightness settings for your computer to find a happy medium. Is that cheap? Are you cheating if you use the hotkeys built in to your graphics driver to swap contrast or tint or brightness settings based on your needs at the moment? It doesn't give a player an advantage. If anything it levels the playing field by compensating for a substandard monitor.
