Nothing has changed in bf2142 so they should start to fix this as soon as possible and preferably port this over in a patch for bf2 as well.
They really need to keep bf2142 and bf2 hand in hand with similiar patches.
There's a box that you can tick in BF2142 that can disable radio chatter.

Really... so they realized the need to patch it into BF1942, then forgot about it for BF2, then put it in again for 2142. The annoying thing is that it would take like an hour to patch in.
In BF1942 you could type ignore [player number], I think it was an alias for chat.ignore but I'm not sure. Is there anything like that in bf2?
i know this is an old thread, i was playing around with the sound OGG's in BF2 and converted them to mp3, ran a couple thru my creative wave station to try and reduce the volume on common spam info, convert back to OGG, save it and replace the existing files.
it 'seemed' to work on single player but i havent tried it online.
there must be a reason why nobody has done this or doing this, if so why is it?
will it get punkbusted or something? before i spend too much time on this i'd like to know if its worth pursuing.
It's all probably to mask the crappy sound effects BF2 uses.
Whenever I think of how BF2 sounds, I don't remember tank shells, bullet richochets, grenades (like in Call of Duty was amazed), all I think of is "enemy spotted" over and over and over and over and over and over again.
I found the radio spam annoying in about the first 5 minutes, I don't know how this made it past EA beta-testing. Oh wait, EA doesn't beta test software.... freaking losers.
