    The Future: Battlefield Bad Company

battlefield bad company (bf:bc) being built by DICE Sweden due out in 2007.

it looks like its build on a totally new engine, looks amazing. the world is world that's 90 percent destructible. not static buildings that you can't punch a hole thru. ive seen some non readily public screen shots and they are undescribable. i have looked for them on web so that i can post them in total bf2, my source for all things bf, but i have not found them. i know i should have gotten a copy. i was not thinking. but dont take my word, keep an eye out on the web.

it's being build to run on computers like ps3 and xbox 360 that can handle several threads at the same time. non of our computers until later in 2007 will be quad core. the new generation of consoles are thats why now.

in game images, not fake cover shots:

even high end computers can handle things like this in real time and persistent:

not static image result of game play!

why quad core i think a core 2 duo extreme edition would do the job or an AMD FX64 ( w/e its called) plus like quad sli of 2 7950 GX2 or the new 8800 GTX that is coming out

i'm talking about 4-8 cores being able to handle couple threads each. its not just the unbelievably amazing graphics with and poly count and textures, its the physics and all the logic and keeping it persistent and the fact that it cant be pre rendered shots and animations like we get now, it happens realtime and is unique to that game alone.

Start saving for a console because it's take a while before we see pc games at this level because they cannot create them for the extremely small pc market that have the kind of hardware you will find in ps3 or xbox360. the new consoles are truely amazing internally. ps3

for example ps3 can do 218 GFLOPS! your high end dual core 2 can only do 18 GFLOPS! And the graphics engine can do 1.8 TFLOPS for a total performance of 2 TFLOPS!!! 1,000 GFLOPS = 1 TFLOPS!!!! How does it pull it off.

the ps3 cpu is really like 8!!! core cpu!

IBM, Sony and Toshiba said the Cell Chip is 10 times faster than the lastest PC processors.

this christmas baby and it will play gta4! ah yeah

ok lets be honest forget the numbers. up to know i've shyed away from consoles, i've always played my games on very high end pcs, i buy a new one around every year and i upgrade about every 6 months. but these new consoles are like nothing before, these are super computers, they were designed to get people like me to give up their pcs and buy them. game makes will be able to do with them things that pcs for a couple of years won't even comple close to closing. the problem is no game company will be creating game for 10K machine, they need large enought market. these consoles are truely unique because from now one they can attrack game developers to utilize their capabilies. look at the games that are coming out for them. you dont see stuff like this on pcs now and into next year. i'm saving my money. i will always have and love my pc, but these consoles deserve serious consideration. and i'm getting bf:bc without much doubt i just dont know right now if its on xbox or ps3. a lot of it has to do with what games come out for each and the cost.

at first console only, because of the requirements, non of us have pc like ps3 / xbox it will take intel couple years before enough people have 4-8 cores that can handle 8-16 threads at the same time.

intel wont be releasing quad core into server market until next year.

you can get about 8 core ps3 this christmas for less than you will pay for intel quad core

it wont be until 2008+ before we see it in desktops

ok look at it another way a ps3 is what $500 an xbox is what $400 a quad core pc will cost you around $4K and i bet it wont beat ps3.

Yeah, BC has nothing to do with the PC at all.

                    Console only...like Modern Combat was.

So far, I don't believe anything I've seen or read about the PS3's graphics capabilities. PCs still rule.

i bet when pcs catch up to it you will see it on pc...

ps3 / xbox360 is really next generation pc. thats where intel and amd are running to, its just it wont be affordable to the average human until 2008+

right now 4-8 core computers are like the servers that corporations use today that cost around $15k

english please, cant figure out wtf you are trying to say.

sure pcs will catch up, but its going to take a couple years and thats when sony/ms will make there money.

anyway i think its worth getting bf:bc just to be able to drive around in a tank blowing up buildings!

ok i found some interesting news from gamestop bf:bc ships on 1/1/2007

                              check out dice interview

                              straight from dice
Our new Frostbite engine, developed by our in-house core team here in Stockholm, is really giving us a lot of power to do what we need in order to deliver a true next-gen game with high def visuals etc. The complexity of the interactive environment and the destruction takes oh so much power which of course is why we haven't really seen this done on older platforms. As for the visual eye candy, take my word for it, you won't be disappointed.

PC VERSION CONFIRMED FOR LATER IN 2007
An announcements for a PC version has been confirmed.

                              bf:dc features:

                              Features

                              Destructible Environments
Use your weapons to create damage to the environment, and make your own places to hide.

Use your weapons to create damage to the environment, and make your own places to hide.

One of the new features exclusive to Bad Company will be the addition of 90% destructible environments. Most of the terrain will be able to be destroyed, enabling players to create strategies with this new opportunity. For example, snipers might be able to blow away a corner of a building so that they could use that section as a place to fire from. This does not mean that they are invincible, however. Vehicles such as tanks will have the firepower to destroy many of these buildings, encouraging the player to retreat and find another strategic point.

                              Squads

The amount of soldier classes will be lowered, as some of the character classes will now be combined, an approach also used in Battlefield 2142. This will also create "new loadouts of weapons and equipment."

                              Weapons

Available weapons are currently unknown, but they will likely contain modern favorites as well as some new concepts based on future weaponry, such as the XM8 carbine that is shown in a few of the screenshots.

                              Ironsight

Ironsight is a new aiming mode to be featured in the game. Aiming in Bad Company will now cause your firing direction to move in random directions to take away repetitive fire, just as it would work in real life. Using Ironsight will help to improve a player's aim, causing the player to focus on his target and temporarily blur out surrounding objects.

                              Single player

Well-known for its popular multiplayer support, DICE will take on a different strategy for this game and focus additionally on the single-player component, while still maintaining the multiplayer features expected from a Battlefield game.

                              Story

While not much is revealed at the moment, the story which takes place "just a few years into the future,"[3] involves a group of four AWOL soldiers fighting for money as well as payback. Their adventures will take place in locations such as Eastern Europe and other locations around the world. Whether or not the plot will involve the world's superpower armies is yet to be seen.

                              Multiplayer

Multiplayer mode will support up to 24 players, the same amount as Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

Revealed screenshots hint that battles will take place in environments similar to Battlefield 2. Example locations will include towns and tropical areas. Recent screenshot confirms the return of the US HMMWV, tanks, and helicopters.
