Noob ? - How do I parachute?

What button allows me to jump ship when flying a fighter or chopper? I can't find it listed on the controls screen.

pressing "e" enter/exit a vehicle, and "9" to open paracute, doesnt always open 1st time tho

By default you press E (Enter/Exit Vehicle) to jump out, then press 9 by default to bring the parachute out..

My advice is to keep tapping it though because it rarely opens first time!

BTW: By holding down "E", you will automaticly jump into any vehicles. If you hear or are near a vehicle, go ahead and hold "E". There's nothing worse than someone calling for a pickup and then when you go over to him, you end up running them over. If I'm a medic I will revive him, but he can forget about his ride.

I suggest changing the parachute key to Backspace or some larger key. The 9 key is so small that I often find myself tapping 8.

And make sure you jab it like Hungry Hungry Hippos.

I remapped my secondary weapon to the mouse wheel click, the knife to 2, and parachute to 1. Works alright. It's close enough to all the other keys, and mouse wheel click is unassigned as a default. You could even put the chute on that.

Just find what works for you.

Tap E to exit and press 9 a few times if your close to the ground.

What works well for me though is to remap it to an alt mouse button(like a button on the side of your mouse if you have one with more than 2 or 3 buttons.). It also works well for Voip too.

In bf2142 they changed the parachute to space I think, way easier to find than 9, too bad you can't map it to space without losing jump in BF2.

I mapped my chute to my thumb button on my mouse. I like to jump off buildings, so there is no other option for me. Nice and fast.

And as for opening, I find it opens reliably if you pause for a second after ejecting and then try to open it. Same when roof jumping, if you wait a split second, it opens first try.

The next step is learning to halo jump anyway (waiting until the last possible second to deploy), which saves you dangerous hang time, and always seems to get a first shot opening.

My Z-board came mapped like that with dual action for space. If you are free-falling, it defaults to chute. I just haven't broken my old habits yet.
