I wish they had a dual-conquest where you had to capture flags in a certain order. This would centralize all battles, and make it so that teams play defense. Sorta like unreal tournament.
There was a map like that in BF1942 Desert Combat. There was a huge mountain going down the middle of the map that was unpassable by any ground vech, each team got 1 combat helicopter and 2 transports. There was the ground base 1, Oasis 2, Mountain outpost 3 and opposition outpost 4. Marines/opposition had to capture each in order and than they won. In the mountain pass you could drop rocks down on in people crossing, it was fun :P

You know what? I reckon they should allow the ability for commanders to set a series of waypoints, rather than just 1 objective after another.

That way- the commander doesn't have to keep tabs on every single squad in the whole team... which is usually a seemingly hopeless task.

So much better too- because the thing would be so much more team-based with the added benefit of the commander having more time and attention to spare on looking out for the team than just finding out what to do next...

Well the join clan servers suggestion just dont fly Im sorry to say, 70% of clan servers I join are nothing more than Stat pad servers. You see a server with more than 3-1 clan to pub and I guarantee you are joining a stat pad server. You enter and players on one side are raping the other side, but when you join the guys getting raped all the sudden get "good". Most of the time its a Badge hack round and the clan could care less about winning the map. Hell Ive had many instances of "clan" members actually saying "Were trying to get badges here".

Every so often I find a good sqaud that hangs back and gets the stragglers trying to cap flags in the rear. The reason you see so many losses on a lot of maps (Especially IO maps) is that no one is defending the back bases and as I have said many times, If you lose a base in the back in IO you have pretty much lost the round.

May I reiterate... a GOOD clan server? kinda like those R2 servers... they're always great.

But I don't see what the attraction to badges is. It's not like they give you any actual benefits. Personally I can live without getting any more badges. It's the same with ranks, except for the unlocks, 99% of which personally I can do without.

Who needs the grind? Surely there's a lot more to playing the game than the grind. I just don't understand how anyone can keep up interest in the game when all they're doing is grinding. I mean that's like work to me. I play to be challenged and to have fun, and the grind is no fun and no challenge - it's just busy-work for the sake of getting a nice image on your computer screen. I mean big f***ing deal! I guess it must have some appeal to a lot of people though. I mean I don't get it - if they just want to see the badge there are websites that show all of them for free.

One thing is for sure - I hope I'm never in a position where I'm being defended by these bozos in real life: "Oh, it doesn't matter if my country is overrun and my people sold into slavery - just as long as I get a medal and a promotion".

Badges are also prerequisites for certain ranks.

Keep in mind it's also up to the SL to accept or deny the commanders orders, some squads just accept any and all orders. When I'm SL I ALWAYS enter appropriate orders for my team and if my commander gives me orders I make conscience decisions on whether to accept or not since I have a 1st person view of the battlefield and he usually doesn't; that being said, my squad seems to spawn on me quite often .

Man, some people are hopeless. Yes, I’m talking about you.
Let’s say you receive the order “repair this position”.
You go there, get the job done. Now what do you do next? Stand there with your wrench up? Or you go back to your squad and start doing things together, as a team?
It’s the same with that “defend this position” order. You did your job, now it’s time to move on.
The point is: always stick with your squad!
This should keep you from asking worthless questions like this one:

I only invite friends to my squad, if random people come in and they dont communicate I leave and create a new squad and lock it, if Im commanding squad leaders usually cooparate(sp) and I see great teamwork even on worst servers

^^U don't have to leave & make a new 1. U can still lock the squad after making it by clicking the lock button. Then just kik the non teamplayers in manage squad.

Re: Can anyone explain why no one follows squad orders?

Because most players know what situation they are in and know more about whats going on than the commanders do. For example if my squad is defending a base thats come under repeated attack then we are not leaving to secure some flag on the other side of the map so those who were attacking can just take the flag we are defending. The commander just knows that the flag we are defending is ours and the other flag is not.

Commander overall is a neat idea but I dont think it will ever work outside of clans. Perhaps if a little more could be done with it such as in the game Savage.

Ah yes, and I'll add- they should include that for Squad-Leaders as well.
Hm... in which case- it would be sensible to have markers on the SL/Commander map that indicate the routes and waypoints of every squad in order to prevent any over-lap.

And of course, since both teams would have this- the game would be much much more strategy and tactic dependant; and of course the game would then finally fall into more than just a FPS category; there will be the higher ranks and leaders plotting movement, strategies and objectives; and of course the infantry, units and other personnel carrying them out.

If only they designed the game this way, and also included a rewards system for achieving certain objectives (based on the merits and difficulty of those objectives; e.g: +1 point for moving to a certain waypoint-depending on distance,+2 points for reaching a CP-depending on distance, and of course perhaps any extra points for eliminating obstacles and enemy units that stand in the way of plotted waypoints and objectives.)

But of course... I can only dream :p lol.

What would be nice is if you could set an area instead of a point. So you could tell a squad to hold a sector and take on any threats in that area.

Also what might help is to have the squad system better organized. For example pilots should get auto put into their own squad along with helo pilots. So if I am in Squad A and jump into a Cobra, I get put in a new squad H1 automaticly and must confirm I want to join that squad by hitting the page up button. then when somebody gets in with me, they are promted the same thing and join my squad. Would not force me into that squad but would give the option. Speaking of which, if you are promted to join a squad and say yes... it should move you to it and not force you to go through all the menu crap.

I think things like that would help squads get together more and be organized which would also help commanders use them and talk directly with that unit.

Okay... thing is- setting an 'area' instead of a point... would be almost exactly the same as setting a point or worse actually. Setting an area would have squads running around in that 'area' you assigned, because you end up not assigning which PARTICULAR part of that area you want that squad to watch. Having way-points means you can actually set patrol-routes as well, and also giving them a particular choke-point, defensive cover, or key-artery to watch, rather than giving them some ambiguous 'area' to go to.

As with your 'organising squads' idea... um... while that puts people into squads and what not, and makes it so that people don't have to organise the squads anymore... you haven't explained very much about what happens if many different people from different squads want to jump in a chopper or a jet at many different times... squads would become more difficult to command and communicate to because people end up keeping on switching in and out of different squads because they seem to end up in and out of choppers, and when they can't get into that chopper anymore... they have to re-assign themselves to their original or another squad somehow?

It would be chaotic because Squad leaders end up losing team members they need for their objectives, and maybe even squad leaders themselves go missing because they jumped into a chopper, and then the squad goes into disarray because of the sudden change of leader, and the sudden change of objectives set by the new leader... I think that would detract from squad AND team-play because of the lack of cohesion a squad has due to the ease of mobility between squads and helicopters and etc.

It would be a nightmare pulling up the tab-score/team list, and seeing all manner of movements between squads, switching in and out of helicopters and not being able to pin-point a team-member to invite to a squad or such.

By the way- I think, when you are invited in a squad, you are then automatically put in that squad when you accept... (I think you only have to go through the 'menu-crap' when you're already in a squad... the thing is, when you pick a squad- you're meant to stick to it... unless you have a good reason to leave).
