I've been waiting for 2142 for a couple months now, it looked really good, but when I downloaded the demo, it sucked ***. All of the guns suck, even the sniper rifle(Unless u get all of it's unlocks). I tried all of em, and played for a couple hours, NO ACCURACY AT ALL, it takes a couple of clips to kill one guy! The guns in BF2 are even better, way better. EA did a bad job on this one. Like common, more then 100 years later...and the guns are worse then in the 21st century, that's an embarisment. So if you are planning on downloading the demo, don't, big waste of time.

You do realize as Weapons get better and better, so does the armor to prevent bullet penetration. It's reasonable to assume that in "100 Years", body armor will have advanced tremendesly, along side weapon advancements.

Also, try not to spray and pray, or prone spam in 2142, as that doesn't work. They've added a major deviation when you first go prone, to prevent prone spamming. It no longer results in instant accuracy. Try Crouching instead.

And for shooting targets at Med-Long Range, set your weapon to single shot mode. You can drop 5 guys easily with a single 30 round clip.

No ones a pro in the first hour of playing a game, its called a Learning Curve...

I also gave it a go, it was better than the beta, but it didn't feel right to me.
Though I don't think that there is anything wrong with the accuracy of the weapons, they work pretty decently.

I'm confused, I find it very easy to kill people (and I'm playing this on my old comp with an FPS of 10-20! :p). I've been using mainly the machine gun and sub machine gun. I don't know about the sniper rifle and assault guns, but those SMGs and LMGs are very good.

Exactly! Everyone is expecting the weapons to work 100% the way they did in BF2. They don't. Just like 1942 guns don't work like the DC guns, just like the DC guns don't work like BF2 guns, just like the DC choppers don't work like BF2 choppers, just like the BF2 choppers don't work like BF2142 'choppers' etc. etc. nothing is the same, because it's a different game.

I for one love it. I was also a beta tester and the beta was better for one good point, unlocks and teamwork unlocks. The guns in 2142 are different I'll say that, but once you get used to them your good. I actually think you die to fast, but hey it makes it real. The sniper is tough without the unlock for the stabilizer but hey, we don't need 100% accurate snipers out their, it takes skill.

The assualt is really good, but you need to be prone or crouched to get a tight burst, standing with it on your hip and you wont hit the broad side of a barn, again good thing we don't need a bunch of rambo's, you need to take time and use skill.

Support I think lacks a bit, again prone is the only way, but even though the assualt will kill you first. That I don't like. You can get a good cover spot and an assualt guy will crouch and pop you right off. Maybe the unlock is better here..

Overall I enjoy 2142, the demo is drab without team unlocks or score unlocks, but heck its a demo what do you expect.

This game is good if your into tanks, apcs and battlewalkers, not infantry, and yes, i do realize that there are unlocks, but still, the stock guns should be good too.

Well said. I think the game play will change so drastically with the unlocks that I will have to give it a second look. I didn't like the demo but if I had to play BF2 without grenades, mines, or shock paddles, I wouldn't like it either.

I first played 2142 in the Beta back in august, and I'll admit, at first, I sucked. I could barley finish a round with a score of 20. It was so different from BF2 in gameplay mechanics, that it was frustrating. So, I took the time, played for a few more days, and got use to it. Now playing the Demo, a 70 point score is rather easy in a round.

Take the time to learn the game, and you'll enjoy it.

I just played the demo as well and won't be buying the full game..

I was playing it on lower settings than I play BF2 at yet it is somehow slower and laggier

Not only that but the weapons are ridiculously weak;

when I was capturing a missile silo I snuck up on a enemy soldier from behind and emptied my support weapon into his back point blank for 3 whole seconds without him dying when I was killed by two shots from a enemy that had spawned behind me.. WTF!

The "Attack" helicopter - I call it that loosely because the missiles are so weak that it actually wasn't worth shooting at targets.. I circled and emptied 3 whole reloads of missiles into a walker before the driver bailed and ran away!

Also noticed something very wrong with the damage model:

I jumped from the transport helicopter and opened my parachute, not realising that pressing the parachute key twice causes it to close.. I landed parachuteless onto a enemy APC and blew it up! It just said "me <killed> thatguy" and "me is no more"

I can say I am very dissapointed in Battlefield 2142. I'm probably not going to buy it.

For those who missed Beta 1 I feel sorry for you. Because in Beta 1 the game was fun. Amazing, I preferred Beta 1 over BF2. Fighting was fast paced and it was AWESOME.

But then, EA and DICE decided to ruin the game. Believe it or not the long range pods were fun. It cause for infantry to NOT be stranded out in this game's HUGE open spaces. Infantry could launch from a pod and go straight into another infantry battle. Did it get annoying? No! It was fun! It made the bases chaotic battle points, I saw battles for a control point last well over ten minutes because of the pods. It made it challenging and fun.

The support kit kicked some serious ***, so did the assault. As support you could defend the Titan's corridors by crouching in the halls behind those things that jut out. One person doing this could rack up the kills and force the other team to do team work and sacrifice to kill the gunner, flush the hall out and get to the panels.

I didnt bother with Beta 2 because I heard what they did and I did not want to be dissapointed. However I did download the demo...I can say I am very dissapointed.

First off, the good.
The game looks nice, Titan mode is enjoyable, air vehicles are EASIER to control than in BF2, The game allows you to create an account AND a ingame name, the game runs better than BF2 mostly because its a from the ground build straight off the basic engine, the knife is pretty cool, the uniforms look nice.

The bad, the weapons spit out ammo way too fast. It basically takes a clip to kill someone. There are still BS things that happen in bf2, like hitting a tank 4 times with an AT gun and not seeing a result. I had the "ghost" weapons glitch where the reloading sounds were played but the weapon reload cinematic did not. TKers are all over the place, mostly because its a demo and no one gives a crap.
Titan mode seems to be stolen from Star Wars Battlefront II's space battles.

My biggest dissapointment is the weapons. It is the 21st century and we have weapons that can't hit the side of a barn from the inside of the barn. That needs to be changed drastically. The rate-of-fire on the assault rifles needs to be toned down.

Thats just my 2 cents.

Way more fun to play then this "new" game

I stick to bf2 and PoE.....waiting for other (great) mods as well

Did the beta, had many technical issues, didn't like the look or the technology.

For me, 2142 basically just reinforces my impression that DICE doesn't have the first clue about how to make a good military-based game. If they're imitating the past, they do an OK job (BF1942), while if they're doing modern day military, they mess it up pretty badly (BF2), but when it comes to using their imaginations about future military.... the result is laughably naive and unimaginative, and really just not very interesting at all (BF2142).

Mix in their astonishingly poor coding techniques, and you have a recipe for yet another upsurge of angry postings by disgruntled/disappointed customers in the near future.

Those Swedes should stick to making Volvos, IKEA furniture, and lingonberry pancakes. Leave the war related stuff to people who know something about it, like Americans or Germans or even the Israelis, but for crying out loud, enough with the stupid war games, you're ruining a great concept with every new variation.
