I've been waiting for 2142 for a couple months now, it looked really good, but when I downloaded the demo, it sucked ***. All of the guns suck, even the sniper rifle(Unless u get all of it's unlocks). I tried all of em, and played for a couple hours, NO ACCURACY AT ALL, it takes a couple of clips to kill one guy! The guns in BF2 are even better, way better. EA did a bad job on this one. Like common, more then 100 years later...and the guns are worse then in the 21st century, that's an embarisment. So if you are planning on downloading the demo, don't, big waste of time.
Don't bother with Bf 2142

Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
Demo is fun, but I'm afraid that I'm learning bad habits because game play will likely be much different when we can get unlocks. I am disappointed in the accuracy and damage of the weapons, though. Especially the machine guns, they are significantly less powerful than the assault rifles. Still, the full game will rock.Comment

I totally agree! As a matter of fact I just called Gaemstop and cancelled my preorder. I will not be paying $50 for this pile of crap. I'm sticking to BF2.Originally posted by PLUNK47I've been waiting for 2142 for a couple months now, it looked really good, but when I downloaded the demo, it sucked ***. Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
The demo was poorly thought out.
They should have included the ability for medics to use the defibrilator even though it's an unlock.
They also should have included grenades in all the kits as opposed to making them an unlock. If not in the full version, then at least in the demo.
I totally agree that the guns all suck and I'll go a step further and say that all the vehicles are crap as well. I might eventually get the game, but I won't be one of the first on the battlefield.Comment

Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
It's not worth it. Gameplay just isn't as fun and exciting as bf2's. I feel like they have gone with such as stale type of gameplay. Titan mode may be different, but it is not the experience many people were expecting. The guns are mediocre, and nothing you would expect in a hundred years. Many more things are disappointing to me and many of the silent majority.
On top of that, there are ridiculous amounts of bugs and CTDs in the demo. It is very laggy and runs worse than bf2. As you probably know, the demo came out less than two weeks before the real game comes out. Alt-tabbing functionality is not even in it. Do you really think they will be able to fix all these bugs before the game is out?
So, if you are not planning on buying the game, stick with it. If you are, you really need to play the demo for yourself. If you have changed your mind and are not buying it, you probably made a good choice (as of now).Comment

Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
Although I have said that I will never buy the game, and I won't especially after my experience, I did try the demo, but then again, I tried the Land of the Dead demo as well and found it to be far superior to BF2142 after just the first few minutes of playing each.
After downloading, installing and finally setting up my account I loaded into a map and noticed an unusually long load time compared to BF2 (even taking into consideration the shader optimizations) (unknown which one... just found a server with a decent ping of 65).
I spawned, ran to the nearest control point and capped it. While I was busy standing there capping the control point I looked around to take in the sites. The game was laggy with the default audio and video settings, compared to BF2 which I run on high settings for both with no issue. As I turned my screen studdered, paused, hung then played catch up. I know this isn't my machine, because after I left the game I loaded BF2 and played two rounds glitch free (on a server where I had a whopping 115 ping).
The graphics were lackluster to say the least. This is not like making a comparison of Doom II to Doom 3 but more of a comparison of a color picture of a rainbow and black and white picture of a rainbow, it lacked a lot of life. Now this may have been the developer's intent, but I want eye candy not eye sore.
As soon as the control point was captured I get the famous BF2 1.3 Connection Issues Message and fifteen seconds later I dropped from the server. I reconnected to the server, in case the server crashed, and low and behold, the same game was still running (people still had 20 points and such meaning no server crash, but game crash on my machine.)
I immediately quit the game, uninstalled the demo, deleted the install package and launched BF2. I know now, what I knew before I played... BF2142 is about as useless as a penis on a eunuch.
I gave it a go... a fair try in my eyes. I won't play a game that is the equivilent of BF2 v1.3. I waited too long for them to release 1.4 and vow to never return.
I once claimed that the 1.3 patch was to be the death of Battlefield, now I know that it will be BF2142. If you have any reservations about downloading BF2142 because of your experience with 1.3, don't waste the zero's and ones. Anyone who hates the stats system of BF2, let me tell you this, there are over 40 unlocks with this game, many of which are tied to stats and others that are tied to team play... Stat-padding will remain a thorn in your side with BF2142.
So with that said, I will close with this:
It is strictly my opinion, but I believe that while BF2 will never be the most superior Battlefield game out there, BF1942 holds that title and will continue to do so for several years, it will always remain superior to BF2142.
Thanks for your time. Peace.Comment

Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
The 2142 guns are actually more accurate then the BF2 ones. And most of them have red-dot scopes which helps even further. 2142 guns also lose damage over range. Asault rifles are the best at holding their damage. The SMGs and pistols lose damage very quickly. The sniper rifles never lose any damage. Every scope has a range finder built in (those numbers under the x-hair) that feeds you back the range to whatever it's pointed at, so you always know what range you're at. It's a very good tactical element actually.
Insta-proning will also get you killed 90% of the time in 2142 because your deviation goes through the roof for a couple seconds.
And yes, the demo is poorly thought out. Without unlocks, gameplay is very one dimensional. If I hadn't played beta and was basing my purchase desicion off the demo only, I'd pass too. They really do make a world of difference.Comment

Re: Don't bother with Bf 2142
I don't actually like it either BF2 even will have less bugs I think just because 2142 got all these kinds of strange things like Battleshỉts all over the place which they can't fix because they can't even fix the J-10 / F35-B issue or the claymore issue since it will dramatically change gameplay physics or something they said.Comment

Actually, the guns and infantry fighting is probably it's best aspect, especially when you get the unlocks.Originally posted by PLUNK47I've been waiting for 2142 for a couple months now, it looked really good, but when I downloaded the demo, it sucked ***.
