but not your ordinary sniper thread.....why do people think the sniper kit is awesome? in a skilled players hands the sniper kit can be used barely effectively and in these occurances it is for the purpose of insulting whoever they manage to kill with the sniper kit
why you say?
because the sniper kit is horrible, ...its good if you want to get a 2-1 KDR with claymores because you cant shoot people with another kit maybe (which i could rant about certain other things too like dao-12s... but thats for another time maybe)

which leads me to the reason of this post.....why do most of you pubber think the sniper kit is hot stuff? in other games snipers CAN rape, but not in this one...in rare instances you may employ a sniper to pick off people perched up on a building that are being a nuisance but nothing more
so why?
dont argue that the sniper kit is awesome either, or that im just not good with it because thats why i dont like it, because you're wrong
the SVD is a cqb style weapon, not good for long range, m24 and unlocks arent 1 shot 1 kill unless you get a headshot...so again not good for long range especially considering fog of war in most bf2 maps....
so again, why do you think the sniper kit is hot stuff?
yes, in real life snipers ARE the f***ing shiznit..but this is a game and the sniper kit BLOWS.....so why?

Since recently I love Anti-Tank :) I love the feeling when shooting down a enemy chopper from a far-distance. :>

But snipers? I thought those were all those privates? They're called "Snipers" right?

no, i make the sniper kit look half decent which is less than you could probably say, i'll take you on head to head sniper vs assault or medic kit (me the sniper) and by head to head i mean up close and personal and take ya out...but that still doesnt make the sniper kit good

the extreme few times i die by a sniper are usually claymores, i have skill and experience...3 seasons of cal-main

my opinion is that people try with the sniper because its unqiue, its different, and thankfully its a change of pace.

Most people are terrible at it, but occasionally you will find someone who is better off with the sniper kit.

The sniper kit appeals to a lot of people because of the obvious, pre-concieved connotations.

- I'll be able to pick off hapless grunts from an ungodly distance, because my gun has a funny glassed-in tube on top.
- I'll be too far away to get shot.
- I'll be invisible.
- I'll be feared.
- I'll have the best k/d ratio, cos I'll be invincible.

So they go and climb the tallest thing they can find, fire away, miss, get spotted, get killed.

What I'm saying is that people have it in their heads when they start playing the game that snipers > you. That's the appeal. Most will soon learn, and go for something else. Some may forget, have another go, mabye even find they're a bit better at it now, end up as skilled snipers, and valuable team members. What people don't remember is that the good snipers, the ones helping you out, are the ones you don't see, as opposed to those charging forth and hurling claymores like there's no tomorrow.

People play sniper because, *gasp*, it's fun. They have a limited impact on the outcome but who cares. Don't forget this is a videogame.

When I can't be playing the fast past infantry combat, I like to sit back with a sniper and defend a flag. While my team is off fighting on the front lines, im hanging back, defending the flags they've forgotten about.

Dear exile,

I cap and defend flags. Shoot people out of emplaced weapons and vehicles, put traps so that the enemy has to do a detour in order to get to a good position. All this with a sniper kit. I wonder how many times a sniper has saved YOUR life, or how many times a sniper distracted or heavily damaged the guy that you then got a couple of easy points off...
It is your opinion, but the way you are voicing it you are insulting people who like this kit. So I am tempted to say that you don't have a clue of what you are talking about. Just another rant by some dude who got killed by a sniper over-and-over and again...

I like to play almost all kits in BF2, but sniper has it's place and sometimes it can be a very effective asset to the team. What you are saying is that all we're am doing with this kit is useless. Well, that is your honored opinion and you are entitled to have it.
