The only solo flying I ever do- is to find a decent gunner/co-pilot!

How do you go about finding a decent gunner on a server..?

Just try them 1 by 1..?

Yeah, can be a bit of an arduous process... but it starts off by starting a squad appropriately named for the Helicopter only. Usually- a more adept person with the helo would join it.

Other than that, I ask everyone... politely. Anyone who volunteers first, I pick up and try him out; and if he fails/sucks, I pick up the next contestant.

Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does.

Inefficient and time-consuming... meanwhile, your team is losing tickets fast. I personally prefer relying on myself. :)

But it's not about the tickets! it's about the love baby! I play for the team, and good players who know how... and even teaching those who don't.

well I let them TV if i know my enemy isnt that good but if Im playing against pros and I know my gunner sucks then I gotta ask him to get out:p

Last night I had some guy who seemed to have a chopper addiction like myself, but he sucked so extremely bad at flying that within ten minutes he was almost ready for a purple heart...
He was going low and never noticed any enemies I spotted for him if he even got that far without crashing...

I 'saved' him from it by TK and flew off... been a long time since I did that, but man did he suck :)

Okay... yes, I've had one of those as well... man, I've tried reasoning with the boy/girl too; and this is one of the actual dialogues I've had with one of the most incompetent and moronic co-pilots I've ever had (I'm in mid-air, facing the kid, desperately wanting in on my chopper):
"No, I am not letting you in the chopper- all you're going to do is tickle armoured targets with the gun"
"okay okay! I'll stop shooting their base with the gun!"
"no no, don't shoot the tank with the gun"
"but what do I shoot it with?"
"the TV missile- the right-click switches to it"
"no! the right click zooms in your weapons! I'm not blind and I can hit that tank with my gun from so far away!"
"no you're not listening to me... the TV missiles... oh, nevermind- get lost."

If he was still waiting on the repairpad after you went down, refusing to go fight saomewhere else, would you have teamkilled him and taken off alone..?

I'd most likely refer him to this forum here though; hopefully he learns much here before taking the helm again.

iv never tkd anyone no matter how bad they suck at gunning but it is extremely annoying when you line them up time after time for tv shots and they just dont even bother to try - i tell them to bail out if they cant shoot, if they dont then i just ignore lining them up and use my hellfires.

i love soloing - i can tv better soloing then with a pilot, if some tells me they can gun good then i will pick them up. i prefer being the pilot when im in a good 2man team.

but yeh aslong as you dont tk to solo or ignore someone who offers you a good gunning partner theres no probs i dont think, soloing is the most complex thing possible in bf2 so why not if you can

Oh, soloing is hard- I get as much as that; but I prefer to push the limits of the game... in the way it's 'supposed' to be played :p. not to sound terribly anal, but some thing's just don't slide well with me.
