There was a blood patch for 1942 that would add blood to the game for you.

Cant do it in BF2, cause of Verifying.....

even if they had some cheap blood thingy like from cs 1.6 (old version) i wouldnt mind and i would also want to see some better "puffs" from bullets hitting the ground...the game just isnt as intesne when u have ppl shooting at u while ur prone and dust is like...not really being kicked up

Because there is a Teen rating on it. If they were to have added blood, the rating would have gone to Mature and that is something that they did not want.
Actually, if you want to see puffs of blood, play some of the mods for BF2.

I think turning the grey smoke into red'ish blood would count as minimal in most cases.

I think that well done blood effects add to the emersion of a game. And a "Mature" rated game would sell just as well as a "Teen" rated game.

I wouldnt suggest that they add decapatations and limbs blowing off into massive pools of blood and gore.....subtle "Minimal" blood would add to the game in some cases I think.

As if without the blood we're under the impression we're shooting androids or something...bleh.

Mature rated games have intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

In my mind, intense = the opening sceen of Saving Private Ryan... limbs flying all over, heads popping off, guts hanging out of people's stomaches... etc.

A subtle puff of red mist isnt "intense"

I think that, even as an optional effect, blood would warrant a "M" rating (after all, what's keeping the kid from simply turning the blood on?).

Any blood in BF2 will probably need to be modded in, and I'm not sure whether or not that would keep from playing cheat-protected servers (modified content).

EA is a family friendly company. So far they have only released two games with an M rating, Black and The Godfather. Both came out this year.

However, you can have blood in a T game provided its tasteful. The origional Rainbow Six was a T with "Blood and Gore, Violence" - ESRB.org

From a performance standpoint, I don't see the need for blood in BF series. The game already requires more RAM than any other PC game I've tried. Team Fortress 2 on the other hand is going to have gore...in the trailer you can see leftover rocket gibs with bones sticking out of the middle of a foot, and yet because of the cartoony nature it doesn't seem too bad. Canalzone is pretty much what the entire BF series is based off of, so you can play that if you really want command points with blood.

Well, Counter-Strike is rated Mature, and as far as explicit content goes, I see no difference between that and BF2 with blood.

Honestly, just from playing CS:S I would guess that this is rated "M" because the blood pools on the ground and sprays on the walls... if it poofed into the air and vanished like the dust in BF2 I would bet the ESRB would call it minimal.


It's all academic though... Blood is never coming to BF2.

Actually yeah dismembered bodies and men on fire from burning armor would also be cool but I didn't realize about the teen rating. The bloodiest game I played was called Blood... does anyone remember it? it preceeded Duke Nukem and it was awesome!!!!!! those were the days..

It's OK to simulate killing people but for some reason it's not ok to see the blood. This concept has always baffled me.

I'm not sure if the law passed, but recently there have been states trying to prohibit the sale of mature rated games to people younger than 17 (just like R rated movies). If such a law did go into effect then I would have to say that the game would not sell as well, nor would Pizza Hut give it away, etc. There will be parents who go "this game must be bad otherwise my child wouldn't need me to buy it for him/her, so I'm not going to". Plenty of parents would still buy it, but you get my drift; it could have been a factor when the game was being developed.
