Hey Colony, I was going to ask you this earlier. Hows your opinion about BF2142 air aspect? I know I tried it a few times but didnt feel the vibe and dropped it. Did you whore the Talon or did you feel disappointed like I was?

should you help your team out and bail out over a flag or are you just playing for points? I'm not trying to be an *** but when ground pounders are having trouble getting to the beach should you not help out?

If im not mistaken, every kill = -1 ticket for the enemy so thats 107 tickets gone from the enemy! And im will to bet he was taking down the J10's increasing the blackhawks chances of making it to shore.

As much as I like laughing at those who accuse good jet pilots of hacking...you have to admit, joystick pilots make you never want to fly again. I've passed up many a F-18's on Kubra Dam, because of it.

Well in BETA1, they weren't that bad... but in BETA2, they really ****ed them up...


(they made it so you can't even complete a barrel roll, and you can't fly upside down anymore..)

And I personally know colony got converted into a mech whore. lol

Well Im one of those 2nd lts, and we were both in the chopper clearing the tips of each island, and the beach etc etc, everyone else was just waiting on the carrier for rides that would never come...

I kinda miss them right now actually, and cant wait to get in them again. BF2142 as a whole is alot of fun to me. I used the Talon/Doragon, but I also got dirty on the ground stabbing people while running around cloaked, getting in the Walkers to wreak havoc, and doing "jihads" in the very fast FAVs. It just feels better than BF2 as a whole.

I used the Gunships alot, especially in beta 1. They arent as good and not quite as fun as BF2 jets....no afterburner, no bombs, no pilot controlled machine gun. But they are fun, at least in beta 1 it was. Beta 2 just totally made them feel really bad, but they say they have reverted it so we'll see this week in the demo. Top speed at ~medium altitude was something like 700+Kph, basically around the speed of the A10/Su39 aircraft in Armored Fury. In the 32 player servers, an average round was around 20 kills for me.

They should be used somewhat stealthily against ground armor and are great for taking out the transports in the air. The great thing is you can go down low like a chopper whenever you want and just hover and have your gunner shoot the baddies. Air to air battles were wierd at the beginning, but I got used to it. Its all about situational awareness, placement of missiles (no lock on missiles, tho they are heat sensitive once they get very close) and proper active defense usage. Its not quite the aerial battles of jets in BF2, but these things can stop on a dime and do 180 maneuvers very fast.

As the top Battlefield 2 pilot I'll simply say this and other extremely high aircraft scores are nothing special (especially on Insomina 24/7 USMC side) and are always the result of a high level of enemy incompetence and not of pilot skill.

When you're a pilot the best way to get a high score is to base rape. Colony was on the USMC side and I'll tell you exactly how the round went. Colony grabbed the first F-35B. He got lucky that one of the newbies on Insomina 24/7 Wake 2007 grabbed the first J-10 and he either shot them down or they crashed. This same thing happened to the Chinese attack helicopter so now Colony has about 15 or so people sitting at these two locations for the entire duration of the round. Then Colony proceeded to rape one single spot over and over again. As the USMC started taking flags (as can be seen in the picture) more and more Chinese got injected back to the airfield for easy rape. Anyone in the screenshot with over 10 deaths spent the entire duration of the round sitting at the airfield in one of these two spots and as a result were likely all the result of Colony hitting those same two magical spots.

This sort of tactic would never work so well on a "regular" server but fact is on Insomina you get crappy J-10 whores in spades and on any particular round you have around 10 people (minimum) sitting at the China airfield the entire game trying to get a J-10 or an attack helicopter. This of course is the J-10 spawn location and the China attack helicopter spawn location. With the F-35B you have a lot of cannon ammo so you can essentially circle the China airfield, strafe these two points and destroy the one S2A post (that is blocked by trees) that can threaten you. If that first J-10 pilot was even slightly competent this kill streak would've never happened.

How hard is that really? I could train a chimp to do it. Fact is it's a perfect example of bad game design. First off - all main bases should have an air to air defensive system better than that found on the Essex (and the Essex should be beefed up). If this exisited as it rightfully should Colony would've never have this easy kill streak. That modification won't fix Wake 2007 though as USMC or China side that is one of the worst maps ever created (but one of the best maps for us plane whores).

Sorry I had to ruin this for Colony but that is the ugly truth about us "uber" pilots and high scores. My most skillful rounds are usually my lower scoring ones as I get the vast majority of my kills from bombing vehicle and shooting down helicopter and other aircraft.
