.50 Cal machine gun... the point?

Facts

The .50 owns anything while the vehicle aint moving... can take out a chopper (attack) in 10 seconds flat, annihilates any infantry soldier.

but this weapon is rendered useless when the vehicle is moving..
i dont get it, the gun is friggin molded and fixed onto the car, how does it get less accurate? the vibrations,ok, A LITTLE BIT, bumps.... fine, but while driving on the roads in mashtuur, smooth, it still doesnt fire accurately.

i am not asking for a fix, but just an explanation on y Dice did this.

Lately, I have been getting so tired of the .50 cal gunners nest on top of tanks. I sat idle to let me gunner whip-up on some infantry, the could not hit anything! And I am confident that it was not him. Seems like the guns are so flakey, they are almost pointless.

Don't get me wrong though, I sure love them...whenever that topic comes along "what are your favorite guns", the .50 cal on the Vodnik is always number 4 or 5 on my list!

I thought it was just my bad shooting.
Ahhh I feel much better knowing I'm not the only one not to hit anything with the 50 cal. My guns seem to fire blanks.

im right there with ya. my friend gets mad when hes driving and im on the 50 cal and cant hit nothing lol.

Seems to be a distinctly BF2 thing. The gunner positions in 2142 (they're called repeaters) have much better accuracy while on the move. I too wish they'd fix BF2, but I know what wishfull thinking will get me.

How about the fact that YOU ARE MOVING? That's why.


It is underpowered, as quite a lot of other things are in BF2. But that's just for more balance.

Ya you are right, but I also think he is asking why it is so inaccurate when you are moving? Like why did EA/Dice make it that way?

lol, the 50 cal having to stop is called gameplay, its a devistating weapon, especially used in concert. in my opinion all vehicles should have variable speed, weather that be a boost or just a slow down. at lower speeds the weapon should be less "shakey" but at higher speeds it should remain ineffective. that being said, vehicles arent quite fast enough and for the most part, thier gearing is both unrealistic and and flatlines the learning curve. that said, an at round to the top of a tank should damage it greatly.
