Agreed. You have to just have a really really good day on a long map. The Road Rage one sounds totally real as long as all parties don't go engineer which for me in armor is going to be 1/2 my spawns. With all the other people being engineer, you wouldn't get that many points. But if most went AT, then you'd rake em in on a high points map.

A buddy of mine got it on a server where the enemy commander was constantly using Cartillery to destroy the artillery of the side my friend was on. He was only repairing the guns to use them and didn't realize till the game was over that he got 24 repair points.

That's Accurate and a good thing as that would be exploited as hell.

That is only of the Gunner is cool.

I've done that before and the Noob drove away in the Half repaired tank just to get wasted down the block.

Having a gunner that communicates with you (and also is AT) can be of great help, but thats info for a different thread :)

You must play it better servers than me, because every time I do that the bastard switches to the drivers seat and drives away, often running me over in the process.

I just gave up on engineer, pretty much. Although I love the idea of running around repairing stuff, it is just completely and totally unfun to sit there wrenching and wrenching and wrenching and wrenching......+1.....

Because they can. It is one of the really annoying, unrealistic and IMO game-breaking aspects of the game.

As an engineer, it puts me out of a job, when a commander can simply dump a box down besides his assets. Not only is it terribly unrealistic, but it takes that supply box away from who needs it the most - the team's players out in the trenches. (there have been entire stretches where I couldn't get a supply box dropped at a flag I was defending, becuase the commander's assets were constantly under attack, and he kept using subsequent supply boxes to repair them - starving the rest of us and losing flags in the process)

As a spec Ops, sometimes it takes me forever to get to the commander assets in one piece (if enemy has good defense), so I may die 3 times trying to blow his stuff up. So the one time where my mission is a success, and I run out of C4 doing so, within 3 seconds, down comes a supply box to repair his assets. I can compensate by hopefully restocking from the same box or nading it, the fact remains that repairing assets is too quick. Though I like the idea of spec ops, I don't bother playing him anymore because it's just not worth the trouble.

for one spec op I agree. A team of thee, or a spec and a support/supply are wonderful. If you tie up his assets enough and draw forward forces back to the spawn to deal with your intrusion, thats less people on the front lines capping flags.

Just nade the supply crate floating down a few times. It will stop coming out of the sky.

I myself quit many a time as engineer and as soon as I finished all the badges, I threw the wrench away pernamently.

If I can get it you can too.

This is so true, I have seen this turn a game. I was on a team where we pushed the baddies to thier base and they sent a team to our rear. Within 10 minutes they had us discombobulated and they took back the Board.

                  so Stop it!

Re: Engineer repair points and stat padding

Easiest is on Warlord as the SAS with 16-20 players on the 64 player map. If the Insurgents are agressive in keeping the SAS assets down, you should get it if the round lasts long enough. All the assets are located relatively close to each other, so they can sweep in and leave pretty quick. Most of the other maps (vanilla or SF) have the assets spread out or aren't as accessible.

The armored convoys aren't that easy anymore since repairs take longer and you are talking about essentially making 20 full health repairs. It's easier if you are in armor, repairing a jeep or hummer as they take on more damage faster. The transport choppers might work now that the armor has improved, but it means having a team and a decent pilot working together (pretty rare these days).

I gotten 7+ repair points before on a quick round in Operation Road Rage by wrenching the AA tank in the suicide seat. Do you think it would be possible to get enough RPs that way given a sparsely populate 64 player map?

The AA has an issue getting away from trouble. I would go for 2nd or 3rd seat in a Littlebird. A great pilot who is medic/squadleader and another ride along who is supply allows you to be kept healthy and supplied with plenty of nades and mines and you can wrench the bird to health. You get driver assist kills for every kill the pilot gets, he gets points for your repair points and the supply points and your kills from nades, mines or pistol.

If you are shot out, the pilot being the SL is the best way to get back into the Littlebird while it is enroute. A long map of that and you'll do well. On the fast paced maps where we were slaughtering the enemy into submission, I was getting 10 repair points easily.

Re: Engineer repair points and stat padding

First off, the commander focuses on the battles, where the enemies are and setting a UAV or arty...Most times when an assat is destroyed they will put a supply drop. A commander cant see over an infantsy's head a big wrench, unless they are asking for repairs comma rose.

For the tank, drivers stick to their default view (1st person). And there are many blind spots of a tank using that view. Im sure he notices that something or someone is repairing him. If in some case he will back o or anything, always repair the tank from the sides. If you repair from the back it will kill you (and dont think of repairing from the front, thats stupid too)

Dont even think of repairing tanks from the back.

Some tankers have big brass balls and stay put taking fire, but the cowards jam tank into reverse and run over 3 engineers trying to save his own armored ***.

Yeah, Warlord is a good map for repairing assets. I got the badge, but I spent over 600 hours as Engineer for the opportunity to finally arrive.
I got the expert on a Warlord, with an enemy spec op determined to keep them down, and a friendly commander letting me repair w/o crates. I mined the crap out of the vehicles lanes, and hunkered down waiting for the yellow assets.

Your success depends on others.

That's how I got my veteran. Just hid in the brush cover and waited for an SAS Spec-Ops to come along. I let him destroy the assests then killed him after he got the last one. I go repair everything. Repeat. Didn't even take that long, as the Spec-Ops was most of the way back by the time I got the last assest back up again.
