    High point servers

What really is allowed? I heard many different things.

Is a 64-player map with 16 player server allowed?

I am pretty sure pistol and knives are against the rules.

    Re: High point servers

That would be a HPS and it is not allowed. There is no clear cut answer. Common sense sould tell you that running a server with the least possible amount of players with the largest possible maps is high points and against ROE. To be perfectly honest, it would really boring running around the same map for 2 hours. I would rather have someone to shoot at regularly.
If stats matter to you at all, don't risk them. You also risk your reputation as a gamer. No one likes cheaters and no one likes stat padders. Here is another thread on high point servers worth a read, especially the 1st post.

This is so wrong; I’m surprised nobody sees this: how are these servers supposed to fill up, if you’re not allowed to join them?!

        Re: High point servers

Actually the ROE states you can have 16 player size on 64 player map sizes but what makes a "high point" server is limiting the use of vehicles etc(obviously pre 1.4 and IO). But bascially high point servers are allowed provided they don't change gameplay in any other aspect except the 16 players allowed on 64 player maps.

16 total players with a 64 player size map? Tell me you are kidding you do not understand this simple concept.

Here is an example to clear up the confusion:
          -32 man server
          -64 size maps

If 16 people are in a server with the above attributes, the POTENTIAL for that server to fill to a TOTAL of 32 players is a lot better than having a MAXIMUM of only 16 players at full capacity.
I do not know how I can make this example any clearer for you. All I can say is that ignorance will lead to wiped stats in a case like this.

If that is true, tell it to all the people that have been wiped for playing 16-24 players on 64 size maps. That is a misinterpretaion.

I see, I see now. It’s about artificially reducing the allowed number to 16 on a 64 player map.
I thought about normal 64 player servers…

              Re: High point servers

Well before the revisement high point servers were defined as to what I said, or very closely, now it's listed as:

This would include but not limited to:
              § Knife-Pistol-Revive
              § Knife-Pistol only Servers
              § Knife only Servers
              § High Points Servers
              § Infantry only Servers
§ No Artillery or Armour Servers
§ Using Vehicles removed from battlefield for purposes of artificially inflating points
§ Turning boats upside down and repairing
              § Glitching inside buildings.
§ Modifying game files for vehicles and weapons.
§ Items not included in this list would be up to EA & DICE to interpret
Guess they "dumbed" it down and made it easier to understand. So to answer the OP's question, no, those kinds of servers aren't allowed.

Revolution, I believe you are wrong about them being against the BFROE.
                Excerpt from BFROE
                1.4 Maps

1.4.1 Custom maps are never permitted on ranked servers, although we do permit map sizes to be defined independently of maximum players.
This clearly states that there is no limitation whatsoever to the minimum number of players playing on any map size. What can you misinterpret here?

If you are a point whore, go to an almost empthy 64 player server and hope it doesn’t fill so soon.
It doesn't have to be IO.

Im obviously missing something but how does having less players to kill get you more points? surely having a server filled with players to blow up gets more points?

Except, I believe, that the server itself cannot be called a "high point" server.

Being that people capture flags more (everyone is spread out usually) and the round tends to last a lot longer than say a "normally" filled server.

You are so wrong. Please show me the rule that says 16 players on a 64 player map is considered 'high points' and against the roe (which is so dumb anyway).

I've played in many of them before, never heard anything about them being against the rules, let alone people getting stats reset.

So basically what your saying is that if someone only purchases a 16 player server they are stuffed as they cannot play 64 player maps? WHERE DOES IT SAY ANYWHERE IN ANY AGREEMENT...that if you rent a 16 player server you CANNOT run 64 player maps?

                          LMFAO get real

One comment I will make is that obviously there seems to be some kind of mathematical skill disability with anyone who says HPS are wrong. On a high point server you might obtain about 200 points but the round will last twice as long as a normal round.

SOOOO....your points per minute will work out the same as a normal server. HOW can this be deemed wrong?

                            No doubts in that.
I belive that for a server to be "high points" there shuold be more to it than merely 16 players on a 64 player map. The only high points on that one are the best round score, score per minute etc could even be lower since there is much ground to cover and not many ppl to gun down. However servers that artificially increase gaming time (cappable main capping not allowed) should be closed down.
