It seems like the number of views in the general discussion section have jumped dramatically this past week. They usually hover around 200 now it is around 500. Does anyone know why? Usually this happens when a patch or expansion pack is coming out. I don't see an obvious BF2 event that would precipitate this. Just curious.
Why the high number of views?

Re: Why the high number of views?
If you haven't notice, there are a lot more people the last few days in the forums then in previous weeks. There has been a surge of traffic. Maybe the community is not dying off.Comment

Re: Why the high number of views?
maybe one of the site admins at MyIS could comment on this. But I have noticed a lot more people in the "who's logged on" area at the bottom of the screen. I mean, there are 400 unregistered people viewing ATM, and 100 registered TBF2 members right now.Comment

Re: Why the high number of views?
<---Not a site admin: This happens in the subsequent weeks after a patch is released. A lot more people are also buying BF2 for the 1st time so they are here to learn as much as they can on the finer aspects of "pwning".Comment

Re: Why the high number of views?
Ya, I have noticed a lot more "hello, I am new to BF2" It is good to see people that have not had a year of vices to walk around bitter about all the past. These people are so lucky to step in now in some respects...to bad they know nothing about the classic Blackhawk.Originally posted by Revoluti0n<---Not a site admin: This happens in the subsequent weeks after a patch is released. Everybody's refreshing to see metallica's non-hacking vid of how he rapes. LOL.Comment

Re: Why the high number of views?
I've seen a lot of those "Hi, My Name is Cornelius and I am a BF2 Addict" threads too. I also agree with your statement about the bitterness over game, for the most part it's uncalled for. I understand people are frustrated and disappointed on some level, but it is still only a game. I found this post/thread particularly accurate:Originally posted by RocketChildYa, I have noticed a lot more "hello, I am new to BF2" It is good to see people that have not had a year of vices to walk around bitter about all the past. That thread go so long I did not even want to start reading it. But yeah, it does get old dwelling on the problems with the game. We all want to vent now and then, but when everyother person starts to vent everyday, man, it brings everyone in the community down.Originally posted by Revoluti0nI've seen a lot of those "Hi, My Name is Cornelius and I am a BF2 Addict" threads too. It is so sad that we had to go through all the heartaches in the last year of play, but overall, I have still been able to play consistantly. It is not like the whole ranked system has been offline for a few weeks at a time.
I am sure that DiCE has been learning something from every patch release since patch 1 for BF1942. They are a small company producing a massive title. And working under EA just makes the challenge greater. There are still a lot of us left...and I hope we see a resurgence in population. If EA sees this game pick backup, maybe the life of it will exend for another couple years. a'la: CSSComment

Re: Why the high number of views?
I don't think the high number of views are due to the patch because the traffic associated with the patch died off shortly after release. Maybe the ramping up of publicity for 2142.Originally posted by Revoluti0n<---Not a site admin: This happens in the subsequent weeks after a patch is released. Re: Why the high number of views?
I've heard that the site's 'User Active' limit was raised to an hour and a half, which is obviously much higher than before. This limit is how long the forum classifies a member as active after they made their last post.
So if you post at 8:00 pm and then immediately logged off, shut down your pc, and someone looks at 9:15, they will see you still active. This happens now with anyone who even makes a single post, resulting in a continuous gigantic list of active members that doesn't get shortened.
This may or may not be the case, it's only a rumor i've heard.Comment

Re: Why the high number of views?
except for a small group of tbf2 people, I dont think anyone really cares about pilots and how they rape =\ I've read that metallica and some other self proclaimed "gods of the sky" are good but thats it. unless they have pulled off some amazing feat like singlehandedly dismantling a cal-m team. I don't think much people care for pub all stars. =\Originally posted by IwantcableEverybody's refreshing to see metallica's non-hacking vid of how he rapes. LOL.Comment
