In case you've not noticed, people are still buying copies of BF2 and learning to fly....Why would mid September be an awkward time to start flying?
Are we to believe that your can reduce one simple question of how to circle strafe correctly; into this guy will never be a good pilot, and thus should not even try?

I didn't state that it would be impossible to learn how to operate the attack helicopter, but the game has been out for over a year and whereas everyone was on equal footing initially, new recruits now have to contend with a higher percentage of skilled opponents, making the task significantly more difficult. Naturally, adaptable and talented players will overcome these hurdles, but when someone posts about having difficulties with one of the most basic of helicopter movements, I question the point of undertaking the endeavor. My apologies for even bothering with my two cents... I'll leave you alone now.

Ok it was a simple question and all i wanted was some advice on how to advance not don't bother .

For your info Sloi i have practiced for about an hour today on an empty Dragon server and have managed albeit to get to grips with the basics of Circle stafing , all be it very simple stuff but i am getting better .I then enterd a 64 player wake server and managed to get in the Cobra and Circle the China Airbase , my gunner got a Bronze star and 27 Kills ( ill take some screenies next time ) . He asked me over the mike how long i had been flying and he told me i was full of bull****t as i replied since yesterday .

It was just a simple question and through morel uck than judgement i found out i was using far to much throttle and i changed my mouse back to my G5 ,,,,,,,,,,,.I shall keep practicing .

Like I said, good luck and try your best... weird time to start thinking of using a Cobra, but have fun anyway. :)

I take it there's no beer for me?

well not sure if I really understand what you mean since english is my second language but Im guessing you need help with circling around a specific area?

thats not too hard

I do it like this

accelerate and hold left if ur circling(sp) to the right, pull mouse to ur left and make half cicles with the mouse if neccesary(if circling around a small area), I can circle in very small areas like the middle flag on daqing or circling around a helipad to repair, not too hard and its fun

I kinda agree with sloi, i meen its not too late to learn but if ur gonna practice please do it in a local server or somewhere else, if u come to a pub and play with some good chopper pilots or gunners most of them wont help and will say "GTFO" or something like that

oh btw the easiest way to master flying is to fly really low between trees and big objects

1- Watch my solo videos to get an idea of what a good flying routine looks like,
2- Read my tutorial at SoB.com (Sloi's addendum and Part 2),
3- Practice...

Worst comes to worst, just add me to xfire and join a game I'm playing in. Let me know you're there and I'll pick you up, at which point you can feel free to observe what I'm doing and ask relevant questions.

There you go Sloi very helpful answer , thats the sort of answer i was a looking for . I may just do that but let me get the basics very soretd first .

The tutorial (addendum) could use some updating: " Although you may be able to use this bird in air battles, your gunner's inability to use the TV missile effectively against clear skies can put you at a clear disadvantage over long distances. " That was patched, for example...

If you're having trouble with basic circle-strafing, perhaps you're not fit for chopper duties as a pilot. I apologize for being so blunt, but you'd be better off cutting your losses now as opposed to expending more energy in order to become nothing more than a mediocre/average pilot at best: unless your potential is apparent, move on to another vehicle...

True, but the people in charge of updating the site have been slowly walking away from BF2 for good. I'll see what I can do about getting it changed but even then, people should know better and take it for what it is... advice. :)
