the hacks are very heavy in IO mode.the think the cheat aim-bot or aim assist is use quite often. they are easy to spot beacuase they run like a guy with spineadifada. arms locked and they dont crouch or go prone because they dont have to. if you think that bunnyhoppers pissed you off try hitting a guy that runs in circles while your prone and he never misses. you think, i must suck, need to work on my shooting, but then you see the end round results and they end up with nearly 50-60 kills. i know that i am the last person who should sound off against this (my stats dont back up my arguement) but i say if you see someone cheating, type in to admin and let them know. if that doesnt work, do what we all did in high school with cheaters. do nothing and hang with the cool crowd.

No offense, but that is not anywhere near being an accurate statement. I play quite a bit and the ONLY cheaters I have ever seen are the guys who go nuts with the car and supply drops.

If someone headshots you, he was probably just better than you. If someone came around the corner with their gun blazing and nailed you, they probably had a commander spot or a UAV, not a wallhack. People like to think to themselves "oh man, I can't believe he got me, there's no way cuz I'm so amazing, he must be cheating" or "he's got 20 kills and 1 death" he must be cheating, etc etc <Insert another contrived example here>.

It's one thing to suspect cheaters while playing. It is entirely different to use spectate mode and see it. I have taken the time to just spectate and have seen plenty of ppl cheating. I stand by that statment.

I think ppl who say "I've played 1000 hours and never see cheats" are good players. Pure skill pwns cheaters and thats a fact from what I've seen.

:laugh: you have to laugh when you hear people saying they kill people with aimbots and radars. rediculous. i would guess around at least 65% of the BF2 population has acess to hacks. it spoils the game for me and only encourages other to use hacks. if you want private hacks... $10-20 for radar, commander/wall hack etc. $40 with aimbot. hardly going to discourage anyone not to use private hacks.

How do you see someone cheating in spectator mode? It's not like a normal FPS where you can see what they see...it's 3rd person view. The only thing I can think of seeing by doing this is someone who is glitching or who is using a macro. You won't be able to determine who has an aimbot, or a continuous UAV, or a wallhack just from spectating; it would still be speculation without a screenshot taken via PB.

Someone might be twitching around a lot...do they have a super sensitive mouse, an aimbot, or an old mouse with a gummed up ball?

Someone might run around a corner and nail somebody.... did they have a UAV, a UAV hack, a wallhack, or a commander or teammate spot?

My point is that you simply don't know if they were hacking or not unless you're an admin on the server and you're streaming PB screenshots and looking through them (and even then there are hacks that supposedly hide their tracks in PB).

The general population cries hacks whenever someone gets a lucky shot or sneaks up on them. I had a guy on our server last night that would say "kick so-and-so he's hacking" just about everytime he got killed. I would run into the person he thought was cheating and waste them, often multiple times during a round; they weren't hacking, the whiner was just a lousy player.

I will agree with this statement. In my entire time of playing the game I've never suspected a single person on our server of using an actual hack...just lots of glitchers and exploiters. Am I naive enough to think I've never been killed by someone who was hacking? No, I know they're out there, but the hacks just aren't good enough to be a major problem. I can still join up on the server after not playing for a week and be in the top 5 scores on my team round after round after round. I'm not bragging b/c I know there are lots of people out there who are better than I am, I'm just saying that available hacks still can't outmatch a competent player.

It would be great if PLAYERS could use 1st person spectator view on BF2 and taking a screenshot on 1st person view game you a pb screen off THEIR computer.

That would be perfect, then we wouldn't have cases like one I know of where a guy wasn't caught until 4.5 years of hacking, and at competition level.

This same player was convincingly caught using 3rd person spectator, but it's usually insufficient.

Completely agree. The great bulk of a small group of people that hack just plain suck. They resort to hacks because they can't handle losing all the time, and want to take a short-cut.

Hacks will only ever provide you MORE information. They'll never be capable of making someone invulnerable, because this information is not stored at the client. Hackers will be able to see where everyone is in the map, but even knowing that, it doesn't mean you're going to be able to kill them.

But most hackers also have no inter-personal skills either, and regardless of whether you're hacking or not, if you're in a good squad, it's not going to make a hell of a lot of difference.

I scanned thru the thread, & did not notice any 1 state the obvious, don't play on servers that don't have punkbuster

I have punk buster enabled in my filters, & still get over a 1000 servers to choose from

If you are really worried about cheaters, make sure your playing on a server that streams punk buster

Ive never seen a hacker because (yeah I know I have only 100h but still) i'm playing only at PB enabled servers. That's the most simple solution, why you guys complaine about hackers instead of just joining PB on servers?

These hacks don't take into consideration distance, therefore you can still beat players with aimbots. With my favourite gun m16a2, I bet i would still own a player with an aimbot, provided he wasn't right beside me.

I can understand why people buy these hacks. Probably mostly out of curiosity, but to use a hack to boost rank/stats or to use on a regular basis is sad. What is the point in cheating?

What needs to happen is that punkbuster needs to be updated in secret, and servers updated in secret to catch the cheaters out. They would be cd key, ip and hardware banned and you'll never see them again.

Anyhow, I hardly play the game anymore so players can hack as much as they want for all I care.

Playing on a server with punkbuster means nothing. Very few hacks are know. Those are the ones that have to play on non punkbuster servers.

Most of them are 12 year old boys who will never have a girlfriend and spend all there time playing BF2.

A new CD key from EA is $10, no questions asked.

You can get around a PB Hardware ban in less then 30 seconds.

PB only detects hacks that are submitted to them. So if you have a private hack and no one leaks it, you never get caught.

Every game has cheaters, BF2 is better then a lot of other games (I'm looking at you CS and MoH...) I've seen at keeping on top of things. I think all the high publicity youtube/google video clips of bf2 hacks has made people paranoid.

I've only ever played 2 games of BF2 where I even suspected someone of hacking. The first time, the guy got kicked by an admin within 5 minutes, the second time, the guy was a clan admin, so I just left the server.
