What the f*ck are these guys playing in this GameSpot video? It aint BF2.

What is the game format? 4 on 4 with a low ticket count? and IO?

Like the narrator says, no need for AT, support, or Assault. Hmmm at that point is it really BF2 or just some bizzare stripped down version?

I agree, from the video posted above I don't see anything other then the basic Square/Hotel stuff. I'm sure there's some teamwork, but how much can there be with only a few people playing with no vehicles, no commanders? Are they good at what they do? Probably. But I wouldn't doubt you could grab any one of number of IO/Citymap fanatics, put em together for a few weeks, and they'd give these guys a run for their money.

They were simply reacting to captured flags, stomping out fires as they came up. Take a flag, lose a flag. It's BF2 by name only.

Exactly, it's a lousy shooter for this type of format (video posted). Like the narrators say, "it's entirely different in a 64 man server with choppers tanks and jeeps". Yeah it's call BF2, not what these guys are playing.

The flat lined learning curve caused by cone of fire is to promote the other aspects of the game. Since really no one is that superior over any other (unless they go to the extents that Volx goes to), it's the other aspects of the game that come to the forefront. Once those are removed, like what these guys are playing, your left with a lousy CQC shooter with good graphics.

The BF2 community in general is lightyears ahead of this crap.

The question is, why would anyone want to strip away all the things that make BF2 unique, to be left with the one thing it does the worst? You've taken a rock/paper/scissors platform and reduced it to rock/rock/rock? I'd rather watch paint dry, and I certainly wouldn't want to play it this way. If it was a decent CQC shooter, that would be different story.

These modes of play have been developed because of the ease of orginization in leagues, but with BF2 it takes it further and further away from the games strong points, and further and further away from why I play BF2.

I hope your being sarcastic. If not..........

Of course I know it's Mastuur City. But is it BF2? The Mastuur I know doesn't have vacant streets. The enemy's spawn that holds their assets (no matter what size the map) is of utmost importance. It needs to be taken and held and the assets need to be destroyed. Or at least harrassed and not allowed to operated unimpeded.

It's not fought for, out in the open, by 2 people on each side, and when it's lost there's no difference in value then any other spawn being lost. It's a disaster and it need to be taken back immediately.

In this format there's no pivotal spawn other then one that may have a strategic location, whether it be centralized or the spawn with the easiest access to the other spawns.

Is it a game that can be played competitively. Sure it is, but so is tiddlywinks. This "tournement" compared to what goes on in thousands of servers nightly is like televising 4 guys playing touch football in the park while the Steelers play the Patriots (insert your own sports analogy).

I don't actually know the set-up for BF2 leagues etc so if UAV isn't used then please correct me

In addition the prone spamming would get damn annoying!!! It would get to a point where you would want to beat your opponent to death with his mouse and prone bound key.
The reg on a lan is not a problem at all. There are very very skilled infantry. You probably suck at infantry so you don't ever play it, but the players in these episodes are very tallented, much more so than you will ever be. I hope you're not retarded but 1.4 removed pronespaming, durrrr.
