Re: Did anyone see the Gaming championships on Direct TV?
What the f*ck are these guys playing in this GameSpot video? It aint BF2.
What is the game format? 4 on 4 with a low ticket count? and IO?
Like the narrator says, no need for AT, support, or Assault. Hmmm at that point is it really BF2 or just some bizzare stripped down version?
I agree, from the video posted above I don't see anything other then the basic Square/Hotel stuff. I'm sure there's some teamwork, but how much can there be with only a few people playing with no vehicles, no commanders? Are they good at what they do? Probably. But I wouldn't doubt you could grab any one of number of IO/Citymap fanatics, put em together for a few weeks, and they'd give these guys a run for their money.
They were simply reacting to captured flags, stomping out fires as they came up. Take a flag, lose a flag. It's BF2 by name only.
Exactly, it's a lousy shooter for this type of format (video posted). Like the narrators say, "it's entirely different in a 64 man server with choppers tanks and jeeps". Yeah it's call BF2, not what these guys are playing.
The flat lined learning curve caused by cone of fire is to promote the other aspects of the game. Since really no one is that superior over any other (unless they go to the extents that Volx goes to), it's the other aspects of the game that come to the forefront. Once those are removed, like what these guys are playing, your left with a lousy CQC shooter with good graphics.
The BF2 community in general is lightyears ahead of this crap.
The question is, why would anyone want to strip away all the things that make BF2 unique, to be left with the one thing it does the worst? You've taken a rock/paper/scissors platform and reduced it to rock/rock/rock? I'd rather watch paint dry, and I certainly wouldn't want to play it this way. If it was a decent CQC shooter, that would be different story.
These modes of play have been developed because of the ease of orginization in leagues, but with BF2 it takes it further and further away from the games strong points, and further and further away from why I play BF2.
