If we had more control of what the game had or was, than it would be so much better in its current state. Dice doesn't care about the community, that's why it isn't the game the [majority of] community wants.

i agree, the community is the biggest problem next to the sh*tty patches. however i dont think all or even most of the smacktards are that way because of forums. the padders, team stackers, smacktalkers, macro abusers, point whores and a$$holes in general are that way because of the stat system, i admit it. i have long beeen an advocate of the stats but the more i play the more i see how they are responsible for the lame community. i still love the stats in general, but i just hate the behavior it results in.

Player 1 (many of the vocal totalbf2 members) like to spend their time bitching about how EA has ruined their life and caused irreversible trauma to their self-esteem. They also like to use big words like 'class action' and 'lawsuit' - often to show other members of how serious they really are about ‘giving it to the man’.

Generally, these players are the most irritating.

Player 2 hates the game so much that they have actually stopped playing the game all together and now relies solely on the mods. However, they sill frequent the general bf2 forums and get their jollies off by bashing the game one way of another.

These players are the most pathetic.

Player 3 actually plays the game (defects and all) and learns to adapt. I believe that this category represents the silent majority of bf2 players. They realize that BF2 is a video game and that there are more important things to life then bitching about grenade spamming and unbalanced virtual jets. They have also learned the secret Zen like art of playing on servers with active admins.

These players are the most happy and definitely have the most fun.

                  What he said.

Not sure what we are talking [or complaining] about here!
I am a 60 year old retired veteran and have just found BF2 and love it. People pretend to kill a computerised figure of a soldier etc and others pretend to do the same. Sure beats the real thing. At the moment I get killed more than Vica Versa but I think that is me!!! not the game. However I do get kicked a lot for a high ping and I have no clue what that is which is why I came into this forum.

So, now I am off to find out what a 'ping' is.

PS. If you ever come across me in B2 be a medic and follow me around as you will get a heap of points for bringing me back from the dead.

                    Cheers

Do as I do: filter your servers by ping and select from those with the lowest ping.
Ping reflects the response time between you and the server. The lower it is, the better your game is.
If a player’s ping is above a certain value, it slows down the other players in that server, that’s why you are getting kicked.

I fall into the 3rd bracket, my favorite is when you mention the secret Zen are of finding a server with active admins. So easy go find a clan server jump in and start counting. Most of the time in an evening there are 7 admins available to moderate the server.

I assume you're British, there are a lot of great servers in the UK where you can get some good play.

22SAS clan, had a match with them last night and they where very nice.
[ATF] clan, these guys are also quality

                        and us

www.arseclan.com the server ip address is there as well as out teamspeak info which is really great for speaking with other people.

                            Welcome.:)

We need some maturity around here!

You'll have to excuse the sometimes sombre tone here. It's just that the game was great when it was released, but then they stuffed it by trying to make it better. Then they promised they would fix it with another patch but the patch didn't fix it.

So right now lots of us are annoyed.

Ping is the time it takes for info you send to the server to bounce back to you. It affects the playability of the game, high ping is bad and causes the game to stutter, low ping is great and the game will be smooth.

You need to choose servers closer to where you live. To do this you need something better than the in game server browser. I'd recommend Qtracker, you can find out about it here http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74632

But if that is too difficult you can use bf2tracker here... http://bf2tracker.com/serverlist.php
and use the filter at the bottom to choose your country.

Then choose a server click on it, copy the address (999.999.999.999:16567) or similar, then use "ctrl v" to paste it into the games server address box.

I'm P3 all the way I guess, since 1.2 my graphics aren't half what they used to be and they screwed up all the LMGs except the MG36 which is only slightly decent now. I could ***** and cry about it all day making long winded posts about this and that like Planewhore or somebody but I just adapt and keep on playing...not as much since Red Orchestra came out but I still play when I'm bored with RO.

Well I sort of fit into category three. I still love playing BF2 and I adapt to what ever the next dodgy patch throws my way but that doesn't mean I'm going to be happy about it. I'll post my opinion on many of the problems in BF2 and I do get angry at DICE Canada and the mess they are making of BF2. Not because I no longer like the game but becuase they seem to endlessly fail to make this the game it should and could (don't tell me that is EA/Dice really wanted to fix BF2 they couldn't) be.

Now that 1.4 has got the game back to being semi-stable DICE should just quitely work on fixing bugs and then when they are completely sure they have a few things sorted out release a patch. No building it up before hand. No announcing release dates in advance. Simply release properly tested patches when they are done.
