While taking pictures of one of the new maps (you might recognise some of the pictures in the update :)), EJOD Desert, I just simply had to show how fricken beautiful it is. Its truly a lovely looking map - and looks like it'll be insane gameplay - open desert to cramped urban settings.

Have you guys actually fixed all the stuff that makes BF2 unrealistic? Do medics still get assault rifles? Can they re-heal themselves like bitches. Is dolphin diving still there? Is the roll animation still there? That doesn't affect the person doing it but only affects the person seeing it and completely messes up the hitbox so the person becomes impossible to hit? Do AA missiles actually work like how they do in real life? Do tank rounds actually move how they move in real life? Are sniper rifles still super accurate even when standing? Has deviation been removed in favour of lots of recoil? (ie: A support gun would have tons of recoil when standing/crouching but virtually none when prone)

I'd like to know what is actually changed in the core gameplay, last time i checked on the website or forums there was a link to the proper changelog but it was broken or outdated or something. Also the last time i played it it simply felt like you removed some things, made guns more powerful and added the odd vehicle and added just loads of new maps and changed the scores so you get 100 points for everything you do...

I might post what i did in the forums. Please, no BS answers to my questions. Thanks.

Do medics still get assault rifles? Yes, as real medics get an M16 or equivalent for that army.
Can they re-heal themselves like bitches. Yes, they can, because you can in real life. You can't throw the pack down anymore though so its not an instaheal thing.
Is dolphin diving still there? Yes, and its a problem. We're trying to implement stuff that will hopefully stop it in future.
Is the roll animation still there? Yes, we can't change it (AFAIK), and its not a top priority.
Do AA missiles actually work like how they do in real life? The AA Is more accurate, I believe.
Do tank rounds actually move how they move in real life? Yes, there is a lot of "drop" over long ranges.
Are sniper rifles still super accurate even when standing? Nope.
Has deviation been removed in favour of lots of recoil? (ie: A support gun would have tons of recoil when standing/crouching but virtually none when prone) Weapons like the M249 don't actually have an "insane" amount of recoil. There is a considerable amount, but not like "oh woops i'm staring at the sky" but there is enough recoil to make you fire in short bursts. But firing from prone is considerably reduced recoil than standing.
Hope I answered your questions. :)

                    Re: Project Reality Release!

We're not a simulator, so a lot of people have different opinions of where realism & gameplay meet, we've tried our best to change things to a point where those two elements unite. We had a changelog for 0.2 but it was a few pages long, since then we've just undergone so many changes that it's hard to put it all together in a way people understand (at least without playing the game). Check it out, if you like it, go for it, if not, then not :) Almost all the things you've mentioned above are so as you've written, snipers however were regulated heavily because that's all people were using for a while, so there's an example of where gameplay kicks back in for the greater good of balance (between classes).

                      Re: Project Reality Release!

Thanks, i'll give this mod another go. I can understand that somethings just can't be changed unless DICE do it, which they won't, as we all know too well..

I suppose i could've posted those questions in a better way, my bad. Just something i really needed to ask about this mod and i just typed as many questions that pissed me off about BF2 as i could. :P

A proper public changelog (or like a manual, like what PoE did) would do good, especially for promoting the mod. As i see you guys want to do from reading your forums.

                          Re: Project Reality Release!

Yeah rgr we need to follow the outstanding example set by PoE and get a game giude together.

Keep in mind that v0.3x of PRMM was our last major release. Tihs was sometime in May I believe. We released v0.31 which was a fairly significant bugfix sometime after that .. maybe June?

The plan with a v0.32 release was to:
                          1. address any issues that came up with BF2 1.4
                          2. add new maps to keep people happy while we worked on PR v0.4
                          3. fix any absolutely critical bugs (we only had one and it was a BF2 bug we had to implement a work around for)

Originally we had thought 1.4 would come out in July or August, but that took much longer than expected. As a result the gap in between major release of the mod got *really* long. There's not much in v0.32 other than new maps.

The next major release of PR is v0.4. It's a few weeks away at this point. That release is a huge update and we think represents a feature set that substantially changes how BF2 plays.

To be honest, the questions you asked about weapons handling & characterisitcs are only slightly addressed in v0.3x but with v0.4 we've gone over every single weapon and done significant tweaking to them, including digging up a couple of tricks we didn't think would work, but have h4xx0r3d them in and they seem to be working in helping us achieve our gols of making the overall mod more realistic.

In any case, your questions are realy good ones. This v0.32 update is a minor update. We're focussing on v0.4, continuing to work on making the mod "be all that it can be".
