Clanner Supremacy

can someone explain this mentality to me and the rest of the community. ive recently come to the conclusion that there many (clanners) out there that believe they alone have the right to play this game. they whine about noobs and pubbers not using teamwork when they are the ones who lock squads and teamstack.

ive noticed that it is typically the clanners who are the point whores and macro abusers. im not saying that all clanners are like this because a good number of you are respectable gamers. i just want to know why pubbers and noobs are generally looked down upon.

The words veteran, dedicated, and organsied spring to mind when I think of clanners. And I can't say I've seen a squad of clanners go point whoring as I always join a squad that has people with the same prefix as they generally use VoIP more to communicate and usually pretty funny too :p
Best clans I play with are H!Son, (oga), or -$ila-

There was a thread about Clans before, and public players being labelled noobs. Thus prefix =CPo= standing for Clan Public Noob. So I use that :) haha

Im in a clan and I don't have that mentality...Must be the prepubers that are in that logical void. Those are the types of people that ruin the reputation of gaming organizations in general. Actually, I think if you took a couple of minutes and browsed the CAL and TWL forums, you could see first hand the state of mind behind the "1337" attitude. It's funny and pathetic all rolled into one...LOL!

CAL and TWL or leagues for competitions against other clans etc. A lot of the clans use macros.

Anyway since I haven't played in a while I don't know what's changed, but for one thing you are kind of right. They do stack. I have been in a clan for BF2, wasn't really active though so I left. I just pub or play with a few friends, just make a squad and usually leave it open for some others to join. And act as a clan by teamwork, combat, using vehicles etc.

There is a big difference between "clanners" and league players.
Anyone can be in a clan, and to be honest, most of the attitude I've encountered in this game came not from league clans, but from "pub server clans".

Granted not all league teams are good, but if you are talking alpha/invite level, you are talking about a whole different level of skill/attitude when compared to even the best of the "pubbers".

Having played in leagues for years throughout a vast number of games, I've spent a lot of time on both sides of the fence.

The big rift between pubbers and league players comes from how each party views game play ethics.

For a league player it's simple: don't hack.
Beyond that, anything goes.
Bunny hopping, dolphin-diving, whatever (I'm not talking about stuff like the Hotel exploit, something like that would be looked down upon as being no different than a hack).

League players play to win and they will use anything within the confines of the game to do it (again, I'm not talking about obvious exploits like the Hotel glitch).

Pubbers however, they tend to impose "ethics" on just about anything and everything within the game.
This is "cheap", that is "gay", and this is "lame".

The problem I (and a lot of league players) have with this is, the "pubber" never considers himself to be at fault when someone does something he can't cope with.

Can't hit the guy who is jumping around?
Don’t bother working on your aim, cry "bunny hopper" and ban him.

So yes you could make an argument that league players do have an elitist attitude, but until you see the amount of crap they endure when they pub, you should reserve judgment.

Euros have www.clanbase.com (no idea what else).

League play can be scary at first (all new players/teams will get demolished when they start out, the level of skill is much, much higher than what you see on pubs) but it's a blast once you get settled in.

http://www.ggl.com/ is global but it's more of a ladder system.

When I started playing in March it was offline for a while.. then it got easy.. then I went online once internet was installed again.. then it got easy.. then I found out there is such a thing as a patch lol then I GOT OWNED.. now I'm an average pub player in the top 5 every round :)

@ jsr I've read some posts in the TWL forums that are just about preschool level regarding BF2. I respect clans that compete, but there is plenty dishonorable within a number of these competative clans.
Being in both in CAL for CS and TWL for BF2, I speak firsthand from what I've personally seen and read. I guess everyone has a different take on it in particular.

Its all about the few that play on that preschool level that makes the rest of the clan look bad. If i see bad behavior within clan or servers I ban them.

Im in a clan and we are just a bunch of guys who play for fun. Have a great laugh on teamspeak. We play some comps but are not that serious if we win or loose. Its the fun aspect. Got to remember its a game. Games were made to be fun, the day you take it seriously is when you need to get up and go outside and get some air. lol

Macro'ing is considered a frowned upon third party program now, and is being encouraged by Electronic Arts that people crack down on it, because they're too lazy to do it.

Personally I would never use a macro (don't get me wrong, I bunny-hop all the time) because I would hate to have my movement restricted to automated cycles.

I'm with you on that.

I bunny hop too if I'm in a pinch, and I proudly teach friends how to do it properly.

Cheap Tactics are usually the winning ones. I'd rather ignore the whines of my enemy, than apologize to my team for dying and messing up.

I totally argee with that, I wish more people on all games had that same mentality.
