Just bought the game can't play :(

I was playing this game earlier at this gaming place with some friends cus our buddy is leaving for the marines monday. Anyway I bought that game that night, installed this morning......

patched 1.4

I get kicked within the first 5 minutes of any server I join

Punkbuster has kicked you memory/corrupted 98081159

I stumbled upon this forum. Can anyone help?

Turn off any unnecessary background applications and services.

Disabled some things, nothing really running anyway, Still didn't work.

You could try re-installing and re-patching...that fixes MOST issues.

What are your specs?

Also, have you tried updating PunkBuster?

well I did update punkbuster, went into a server got kicked before I could even spawn

I'll re-install everything later, gotta sleep, didn't get much, long night out.....

I'll be back to update my problem.

disable anti virus, like talus said disable all backround tasks, make sure u get the "full" 1.4 patch, hmmmm and we do need ur specs..... till then we cant help u much.

I re-installed the whole thing, I have the ful patch 1.4 ( 530 megs )
I played for almost 10 minutes, everything was working fine!!

then kicked AGAIN via punkbuster corrupted file/memory 98081159
Tried another server, kicked... tried another.. kicked...

Does the code 98081159 mean anything?

I looked on evenbalances site (punkbuster) and couldn't find anything but if you submit a trouble ticket to them, they should be able to resolve your issue.

just submitted a ticket, restarting with newest video card drivers.

its not the firewall nor the anti-virus.

Drivers didn't help either......

I guess i'm not supposed to play this game?!:cry:

Hello, Here is more PunkBuster info i just posted at below link.

Get pbsetup.exe and put it into a folder anywhere named PunkBuster.

Then run the exe and ADD GAME: BF2 then click update.

It should fix your pb issue.

Please test Single & "Multiplayer RANKED".
And let me know if the both work for you.

As for your number question.
I believe its an I.D # for one of the packet keys not being sent because
there is an outdated version of something registering in the pbcl database
file located in your BF2\pb folder.
Updating using the above pbsetup tool should solve.
If not then your BF2 install is corrupt because of 1 or more files..
Usually not though and the problem is because of background process interfering .
Such as any sound or video driver that displays a stupid icon in the lower right hand corner.
Or nvidia's lovely NVIDIA Driver Helper Service nvsvc32.exe process you can end also.
(xp manages your nvidia)
usually it could be a cheat hit or mem leak hit because you have 1 or more dummy helper icons in lower right corner. * or your pc is infected with a variant of a w32 virus that is making your pc act like a server which is conflicting with PB packets.
So hopefully its just an Nvidia menu or Sound Menu that you can exit in the bottom right corner.
(also exit the "Printer" when gaming )

I'm getting the exact same problem, and I believe it has something to do with dual channel memory. Like viper, I have tried everything but it's still not working. I reinstalled PB and the game 3 times. I wiped my hardrive, I scanned for viruses and adware, I checked my memory. I updated bios. I turned off all firewalls and background applications. Nothing works. I'll try a full 1.4 install instead of the incremental, but to be honest, I think it's a problem punkbuster has with our computers, not an error with our comps. I think the problem is with PB. I submitted a ticket to evenbalance, but all the solutions they gave me dont work.

Comp specs:

Intel Core 2 6400 (two 2.13 processors)
1 gig ram (OCZ)
ATI X1800 256 mgb graphics card with updated drivers
Seagate 250 gig HD
Asus P5B mobo


Nope. Installed 1.4 full and I still got the same error. Pretty lame.

I'm wondering whether or not it's to do with RAM. I've got a custom build. Did you use cheap ram or good ram?
