    Re: Beyond 1.4

Please consider the problems I am reporting:

    1. Constant disconnections, I'm not the only one - my pc is fast enough to see others disconnected at the same time. Not sure whether this is connected with the incremental, but for me it reduced after installing the full 1.4.

    2. Server crashes (seen 2 within 12 hours) - I have a feeling this is connected with users who have the incremental installed.

    3. Arty cannot be repaired by an engineer in an APC (only one of them - took the Commander to drop a crate to work) - something to do with the changes you made to the cartillary?

Please, please, please fix 1 & 2 - it's rediculus!!.. I work for a software house (as you may have heard me say before), we would have gone out of buisness by now if our software performed as your does.

You are really pushing your luck if you expect seasoned gamers to put up with this, I will never forget my MD saying one day.. "we are fixing no more bugs" whilst contemplating having to get the next release out full of new features. He lived to regret it and started thinking slightly differently after that attitute came back to bite his a$$ via the problems caused & an in house talking too

I understand the bigwig mentality (wth do they know apart from sales figures), but the massive following you had at the beginning came from peeps who played BF1942, we never had to put up with this then and I don't see why we should have to now.

Maybe all is lost since EA took control, hey Shawn, I can play DOD-S all night without this crap, have you not noticed the player count reducing!

If you want to keep what you have/had - sort it out PLEASE!

We are considering future BF2 patches based on what can be and what needs to be done. Any specific talk on another patch is a little soon after 1.4 as we are still waiting for the dust to settle and see where we need to focus.

Old School - on the server crashes. You are hosting local servers as a client? There is no incremental server install as each updated server is a stand alone install.

      Also - I am not Shawn. :)

Phew! FYI I still haven't bought Special Forces or any other expansion, or any other EA product, and won't be until a good deal of the 100 odd outstanding issues are fixed.

I love DICE's concepts, and BF2, but if the game isn't improved I'm gone.

I hope they do keep up for the support for BF2, the gameplay to me seems fine now, all they gotta do is smooth out the bugs, and all should be fine :p

                Re: Beyond 1.4

I hope DICE keeps up with the patches, and addresses some of our issues on the ever growing list, but I feel if it has taken this long just to make minor changes and that no serious or dramatic change will ever come with BF2....sigh.

DICE needs to keep support up for BF2 though cause if they piss off the BF2 community they can flush there 2142 and future games down the drain, cause we will not support them by buying their new stuff!!

They have a critical mass with BF2 so they need to keep us happy which they are trying to do by throwing us little bones (like 1.4) and hope we will still wag our tails and come back for another small bone.

                Just my 2 cents.

Why should EA/DICE spend anymore time on BF2? The program is more than a year old and there's a new version coming out with an updated engine and better graphics?

Does EA/DICE still support BF1942 or BFV?

because they still have a broken product and they will alienate their user base if they don' fix it. i know many hardcore bf2 gamers and nobody i know will be upgrading to bf2142 due to the horrible widespread issues with bf2 unless these issues are resolved. people like to know a company is not just wanting their $$ and giving them an inferior product, which is what bf2 has become - $$$ for ea/dice and a headache for a lot of the gamers.

are you sure it is an updated engine or just the basically the same game with a mod?

as far a bf1942 the last patch did a good job and after i rarely if ever had any issues while gaming for hours. bf:v - that was a joke, so these bf2 issues would be ea/dices 2nd game they are f*cking up.

You're right and wrong at the same time.
Why would BF2? keep trying to patch BF2? Because 2142 and BF2 are one in the same.

If you think that EA/dice started from scratch with 2142, you're crazy. That's why they bought out Dice in the first place. So they can take the same engine and modify it to their hearts content. That's where you make the big bucks. Think about it...you buy a game and you can resell the same game 10 different ways. Wait till EA comes out with a WWII game with the same Engine....(May I suggest FUBAR) as a name.

There will be another patch for BF2...probably another 2. Eventually, they'll pull the plug to force people to buy 2142....but unless I hear some spectacular praise...and not from some Review Site....I'm not biting.

Wait though....the artists formely known as Dice will, like Petroglyph, start another company and they will set the Engine straight and come out with a new game...bigger badder and better....lather, rinse, repeat.

additional support would be great. 1.4 was/is a pretty good in terms of gameplay. there are few bugs that need to be worked out and some left over CTD issues (not many tho).

all i have to say is if you count the betas and final releases bf2 oddly if you put it right is bf2 1.42 odd number happenings eh? and honestly i haven't seen 2142 and have no intrest at all wiht it espically since my friends and i all said meh it's going to be a mod and we will see bugs from bf2 in it and last time i heard some one said they were having some of the same ole problems. anyway i play bf2 in single player wich is jsut about the only semi boredome killing way to play anymore. thought about down gradeing to 1.0 so i could actually have some things work almost right.

the best part about lately is all my friends and i stoped playing bf2 short of jsut useing it for completely mental furball humor ie all standing on c4 to see who can fly the highest. lately we have moved on to older games that work for fun like ut2004. amazing how we revert to farily pointless games to have fun now. thanks dice *hits them with a large fish*

lastly it seems as the pattern for bf games thus far ea takes the SNAFU approach for em. keep em normal all ****ed up.

-ranting is fun when you can pick on the completely ignorant *cough* dice
