Re: Should there be a hotfix? (1.41)

The ping on all servers is through the roof and the lag is HORRIBLE. It wasn't like this with 1.3, yeah I CTD with 1.3 but in 1.4 I can't even play because of the lag. Its not my system specs either, I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now and still lagging like crazy.

As I wrote in a previous post, I think things must be going differently for some of you. I've always thought of BF2 as a shooter, and I play it that way. My goal when I play is to win maps and kill, in that order. It took me a long time to learn to do it but I fight almost exclusively w/an assault rifle: I think firefights with firearms are the most fun. My opinion (I know a lot of you disagree) is that all of the bunny hopping, spawn camping, nade spamming, etc. goes against the spirit of the game. As EA makes fixes, people find other ways of avoid actually fighting w/their guns. The nade spamming I've seen is nuts; around CP's you'll usually hear explosions about once every half second or so, almost all map as long as there is infantry nearby... It makes it nearly impossible to fight for a few seconds without having to run away to avoid being fragged to death, everytime. The mentality seems to be, "Since I cannot shoot them to stop them, I will lob nades and hope one of my six nades will get them." If it were just one or two players doing that it would be one thing, but it ain't. A lot of people enjoy the game that way but I and a lot of others like me don't. I know it's fairly typical on these forums for people to have an emotional reaction to a point they disagree with but that's OK. People will say, "If you don't like it, play something else..." Yeah, I suppose I could but BF2 is my favorite shooter. I still enjoy BF2 but overall I think the game could be a lot more fun. People like to blame BF2's decline on EA and its patches; I think BF2's players are as much to blame.
      Very very well said.

You have hit the nail on the head.

Game works fine for me so far,but theres still things needing fixing ,like the ****ty server browser, you would think with all the time they took on the 1.4 they could have fixed the game browser.

I think the new patch is great. Not saying they should stop. 1942 got all the way to 1.61b! No CTDs and great loading times. Haven't seen red bug yet either.
I say great patch and keep em coming.

My computer is over system requirements so it is not my computer at fault it is 1.4. The game ran perfectly fine with 1.3 and is unplayable with 1.4. And I'll say it one more time.... my computer does not "sux"

I've heard that v1.4 has made knife hit detection even worse than it was before.

thats definitly a bug, unless you can think of a good reason for it, like having to hide ur favorites really fast and until you spend 10 min restarting bf2?

I can not use the server browser to enter names anymore. If I enter a name it just blanks the list. Same if you enter map name. Even if you know 30 servers are running the map, the browser turns up blank.

So much for a public beta test. We got a new abusable game mode called Grenades Only, a prone spam fix that doesn't work and we are still having crashes. It took them 4 months to achieve this superior level of incompetency.

I totally agree, you are so right

to avoid it, i mainly play as sniper, i prefer aiming and not being seen to fire fights. My personal preference.

Dont forget to add in some lag on the side, I reallllllllllly wonder how these people keep their jobs.

Must be someone pulling some strings.

I read this story (someone has it in their signiture around here) and it claimed that the programmers are really good and honest, but the managers or the people higher up basically dont have souls! From i understand, its the programmers doing the best they can with no sleep and someone standing behind them whipping them paying them £1 every 8 hours. Poor guys
