I don't know about you but, I'm still getting the 'There is a problem with your connection' message and I see tanks floating around the map, but then everthing goes back to normal... :S I've had it happen to me on Jaballaala... Also, the game it self feels 'heavy coded', I get 'heavy' lag - I'd be running and someone jumps out of a corner and I lag, the lag 'feels' 'heavy' - I get killed because of it.

Also, this weird lag where I am looking ahead and the next second I'mlooking behind, or left, or end up a few meters away from where I was orrignally and it's a constant lag, with eveny around me and here I am going from one side to another from one place to another place jus like that because of this lag.

Delete your "servers played on". Find them listed at:

C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\XXX\General (open in Wordpad) and delete the lines:

      GeneralSettings.addServerHistory

Save the file, and try login again.

Re: Should there be a hotfix? (1.41)

I think there has been alot of problems with this game but the Server crash (imho) was the most severe because it effected all the players and literally killed the server dead. as far as I can tell that has been fixed, but here's what hasnt been fixed...

-the CTD is still a problem, but at least it doesnt end the game for all 64 people on the server.

-the red tag / blue tag bug is still alive and well ( how many patches to fix this now?)

-transport helos are still the equivelent of a flying gas can against jets (not a big deal imo)

As far as stability goes I guess the game is as stable as it was a year ago, I'm afraid to let dice/EA make any more patches now for what they might screw up. The game is playable, I'd hate to let the village idiots (EA/DICE) have another go around at trying to fix this game and cause another 4 month fiasco of a broken game.

Dont get me wrong I'd love to see the J10 balanced, tweak the helo's adjust this and that, but those gameplay issues I can adapt to and overcome, an unstable game I cant. So to sum it up, I dont think it's worth the risk of having Dumb and dumber (EA/DICE) tinker with what works right now, I'm willing to take the game as is, since it is now playable and adjust my own gameplay instead of asking for more nerfs ect ect. once again, just my humble opinion

LOL Funny I just finished reading a post from HITDOG about how bad the patch is and it's making his game unplayable with LAG!

I really like the patch. I've not experienced any CTD'S or disconnects with 1.4 so far

I don't really play Karkand too often anymore, although I used to a lot. Actually, I was referring to my recent games on Jalalabad and Mastuur City.

As I wrote in a previous post, I think things must be going differently for some of you. I've always thought of BF2 as a shooter, and I play it that way. My goal when I play is to win maps and kill, in that order. It took me a long time to learn to do it but I fight almost exclusively w/an assault rifle: I think firefights with firearms are the most fun. My opinion (I know a lot of you disagree) is that all of the bunny hopping, spawn camping, nade spamming, etc. goes against the spirit of the game. As EA makes fixes, people find other ways of avoid actually fighting w/their guns. The nade spamming I've seen is nuts; around CP's you'll usually hear explosions about once every half second or so, almost all map as long as there is infantry nearby... It makes it nearly impossible to fight for a few seconds without having to run away to avoid being fragged to death, everytime. The mentality seems to be, "Since I cannot shoot them to stop them, I will lob nades and hope one of my six nades will get them." If it were just one or two players doing that it would be one thing, but it ain't. A lot of people enjoy the game that way but I and a lot of others like me don't. I know it's fairly typical on these forums for people to have an emotional reaction to a point they disagree with but that's OK. People will say, "If you don't like it, play something else..." Yeah, I suppose I could but BF2 is my favorite shooter. I still enjoy BF2 but overall I think the game could be a lot more fun. People like to blame BF2's decline on EA and its patches; I think BF2's players are as much to blame.

I'd much rather they invest their time and money into 2142, and coding the next Battlefield series engine with physics and a highly destructable environment.

I've only played 1.4 for about two hours but I voted no. Other than the occasional server crash I was fine with 1.3, but I run a pretty clean system. People are still playing CS and Joint Ops some 30 years after release, so I'm sure BF2 will be around for a while. Most just play for fun without all the whining.

LOL...I posted about this in my team forums.

I linked it to the EA/DICE marketing.

The original 1.4 patch being delayed was cause it fixed all of the bf2 problems, thus no need for more fixes (yeah sure, but stay with me).

So, they takes some fixes out and release a bugged 1.4 patch.

This requires a 1.41 hotfix to fix part of the problems.

Oops, still have ctds, 1.42 hotfix.

Now the EA/Dice marketing team are ready to go with the continual bf2142 subliminal marketing to the current BF2 players...hence BF2 1.42.

I think the game is running better, but they just need 1 more patch to fix the bugs still left in the game, tweak the missiles and or the jets to fix the A2A Missile thing. The helis are good, dont touch them. The Tanks aiming, i wish would stay the same, and the jets as well, They were fine when u say the gun or the shell fly by from the right or left side. But straight down the middle is kinda wacky. Change the Prone spamm thing around so it doesnt glitch up when u do it on accident because thats all scrued up now. My 2 cents.

We don't need a hot fix!
Why is anyone complaniting about the Patch at all!!!?
you were whining about not having it and then whining about the 3 week delay and now your whining about it
BE happy you even got the patch! Don't be ungraceful! I think EA/Dice have reduced themselfs abit in the eyes of alot of BF2 players and me.

If Hotfix included the following four fixes the gameplay in BF2 would be 100% better.

                            * Grenades are only able to be resupplied by suply crates and medics/spec-ops/sniper only have 1 grenade with the kit, 2 for assault/at/engineer and 3 for support. This would nerf the grenade spamming and pretty much ruin that gameplay exploit on Karkand.

                            * Claymores should be destructable by enemy explosives. This includes tank shells, artillery, grenades, C4, airplane bombs, helicopter rockets and helicopters TV missile. Just like that Karkand claymore spamming is a thing of the past and snipers will start using claymores as intended in a sneaky fashion to defend flags and sniping locations.

                            * In IO mode kills and revives only count as 1 point. That'd get rid of the stat padders in IO mode, balance out the point gain in that mode and promote TEAMWORK oriented gameplay that is fun rather than this point whoring attitude so many have embraced.

                            * Revert A2A missiles (only A2A not S2A) to 1.12 patch settings. This would balance all the aircraft and give attack/transport helicopters a much needed survivability boost on maps with aircraft.
YES! Do exactly that! If these changes were implemented (mainly the clay and A2A ones) I would probably come back to the game full time.
