Re: My First 1.4 CTD and how-to Analyze it

Unfortunately, the vast majority of dump files I get from BF2 have no assert information at all...

BTW, I am also getting frequent dumps w/the exact same exception: Error: Common: state bits differs read:95 expected:76. The numbers differ but it's the same CTD. I hope Dice is aware of this.

You maybe on to something about usage. I recently upgraded my case, cpu cooler and power supply. I also reformatted drive and reinstalled windows. I haven't had a ctd as of yet, been about 2 weeks. (knock on wood)

Re: My First 1.4 CTD and how-to Analyze it

              I found a solution. I installed 1.3_full, 1.4_incremental. Instead of 1.4_full.
This fixed the "Aphrodite" ctd for me.

I guess there must be something wrong with the 1.4_full package.

Edit ! Ok, i was wrong, still got the Aphrodite Ghostmanager.ccp ctd.

I guess someone didn't code something right resolves back to the ghostmanager.cpp on line 1350? I'm not a programmer nor really understand programming theory.

Was playing jalalabad I am pretty sure and I was jumping off a building and trying to reach my parachut button I stumbled across my 3,4,5 weapons key and than it just CTD before hitting the ground.

Oh that is my first and only CTD for 1.4 so far.
that is EXACTLY what happened to me.... and EXACTLY the same crash dmp....

I have had similar problems. I installed 1.4 incremental and cannot play now for more than 15 min w/o BSOD or CTD. I called EA and their inept south Asian tech support suggested that I uninstall the game and reinstall with the full patch. I wasted a few hours doing this and still have same crash issues.

I am using a P IV 3.0 Mhz 1 gig RAM Dell desktop with a ATI x1300 graphics card running the latest ATI drivers.

I was out of the game for 110days but fixed it via runing dxdiag from the run tool. I dumbed down the sound setting to basic and it seemed to make the difference.
I also updated my graphics drivers, as I did with the 1.3 patch, but it didn't work until I also changed the sound setting.

                          I'm getting: D:\Aphrodite\BF2_1.4\Code\BF2\RendDX9\VideoOptions .cpp(234): Error: RendDX9: Unknown DynamicOption value 1024x768@85Hz

My old CRT monitor died recently, got a new flat panel. On the old monitor I played 1024x768@85Hz, but on the new one I'm playing at 1280x1024@70MHz. My main character has been working fine, but when my daughter went to play today with her character it gets to Contacting Account Server and CTDs every time with the above dump error message. I set the resolution back to 1024x768@85 but it still CTDs; possibly because the new monitor doesn't support 85MHz, I had to force the setting.

Found a thread on the forum describing a similar problem; I edited the video.con files to all be 1280x1024@70 and it worked fine. You'd think there would be a more elegant solution to bad video settings than to CTD.

Is it the PCI version? Where did you get it? How much?

I'm new here but it seems a good place to vent my frustration.
mine crashes and freezes no sound no buttons work even altcntrldel, I have to reset.
There doesn't seem to be a patern but it always happens just at the point of shooting someone or tonight just entering the next game.
here's my debug (thanks for the info re this )

I have experienced the "62% load and ctd" when i tried to max (high, AA, etc) my in game video settings.

now i just run all medium, the only issues i get are that i get occasional frozen video when flying in helos, maybe once every 5 or 6 flights. sometimes i get the CTD, but it is rare, maybe once an hour.

i have only had the game a week or so, so i am still tweaking the settings and not tested if this happens in singleplayer. i also notice that my ping rate stays between 150-250, not sure why. Another thing is that when the game crashes, i check task manager and the bf2 process is using about 700M of ram, seems high? I am thinking about reformating windows and reinstalling bf2 bc the box is overdue for a clean install.
