We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
This is for everyone that has ever posted "EA or Dice has ripped them off", or "BF2 sucks" or "I will never buy another EA/Dice product again!"
Calm Down!
Have you:
1. Downloaded the FULL PATCH? 2. Reinstalled BF2? 3. Scanned and Removed ALL SPYWARE AND VIRUSES? 4. Turned off ALL OVERCLOCKING (CPU, Memory, Video Card, Voltages, etc.) 5. Installed the most stable driver versions (not nesseceraly the newest) 6. Defraged the HD 7. Stress tested all hardware for at least 24 hours with no errors? Including the power supply? 8. Checked ALL bios settings 9. Verified that all DSL filters are installed on all phone jacks? 10. Demanded that your phone or cable company has throughly tested all the lines to your house?
If you have not done all these things you have no right to complain about Lag, CTD, Stuttering, animation problems, connection loss, bad pings, sound looping, etc....
Make sure you are not the problem!
If I had to do all this just to able to play a game after I installed a patch for it I would start to play Solitair instead.
Pendarus has some good Ideas there. Personally I eliminated almost all of my Lag by letting the sound be hardware controlled and moveing the AA (anti aliasing) so it was controlled by the video card.
When things are controlled by the software that really means that the CPU does the work. All that you can move away from the CPU helps, alot.
Also it only makes sense to run your spy ware/virus scans at least once every 14 days anyway, I do. . . . . . . . .Red
Why should the incremental be more delicately regarding errors? It does the same as the full patch: Changing your game files.
Plus, it even changes less. So why all that fuss about the incremental patches?
Try everything you can to correct the problem. Be self sufficent, be part of the solution. If the incremental gives you issues, use the the full patch. If you still have problems, reinstall. If all you want to do is *****.....go away....I don't want to hear it.
Played 3 games, 2nd and 3rd lag was 4 to 5 seconds and promted many comments on server about the lag prob. From what i have heard on 2142 over the hill is not nirvana.

Okay, so now I say: The incremental patch is better. If you have any problems after installing the full patch reinstall BF2 and install one incremental patch after another. This is as backed up with information as your advice.
Didn't want to piss you off. I just wanted to know why the full patch is better? Thats all.
The full patch is better because of the collective experience of all of us who had fixed problems after installing with the full patch after a bad incremental patch. That's why.
From my previous problems I have found if the patch does not work, either full or partial, then uninstall the entire game and remove any old residue such as folders/files (dont forget the fold/files in Documents and Settings) and reinstall all from scratch.

Sounds more like a server problem rather than a game problem that you experienced if everyone got the same lag. Could have been anything from the GSP updating others on the same machine to a bandwidth or route(r) issue, etc. Could have been an admin using a remote software program to connect to the server.....

He installed the incremental and has no problems, but apparently you have problems reading. Must be your italian sports car computer.

IMO, I havnt experienced any problems with this new patch. Actually my game runs a lot smoother than it did on 1.3. All I can say is job well done EA/DICE........... for now >
