    OK Just Calm Down!(1.4 Related)

    This is for everyone that has ever posted "EA or Dice has ripped them off", or "BF2 sucks" or "I will never buy another EA/Dice product again!"


    Calm Down!


    Have you:

    1. Downloaded the FULL PATCH?
    2. Reinstalled BF2?
    3. Scanned and Removed ALL SPYWARE AND VIRUSES?
    4. Turned off ALL OVERCLOCKING (CPU, Memory, Video Card, Voltages, etc.)
    5. Installed the most stable driver versions (not nesseceraly the newest)
    6. Defraged the HD
    7. Stress tested all hardware for at least 24 hours with no errors? Including the power supply?
    8. Checked ALL bios settings
    9. Verified that all DSL filters are installed on all phone jacks?
    10. Demanded that your phone or cable company has throughly tested all the lines to your house?


    If you have not done all these things you have no right to complain about Lag, CTD, Stuttering, animation problems, connection loss, bad pings, sound looping, etc....


    Make sure you are not the problem!

      Some good points raised there, I'm currently downloading the incremental patch, is it not work th it?

          Let me see if I got this right:

          Game works under patch 1.3 (still has lots of bugs, but that's beside the point) but fails or will not run at all with the installation of a new patch, and it's a hardware problem?

          I bet you're one of those people who suggest updating their drivers with smoke pouring out of the case, aren't you?

          While good general tips if many things are not working right, the installation of one patch to one game should NOT cause it to stop working completely.

              I always get the full patch to be safe. I also like to reinstall from scratch when a big patch comes out. Saves alot of headaches. But thats how I roll....

                  Your DSL filter doesn't matter if the coding in a game makes it crash to desktop.

                      TBH, I have a very solid machine, the OC is extremely stable. And even before I OCed it, I would get the occasional CTD. It was rare, but I would still get it. 1.3 was a jinxed patch. So, yes, some of these steps are nice...it still comes down to an unstable peice of software. Most any other game out there my sutter, but not crash as much as BF2 because of hardware.

                      Hardware is not the issue for most people.

                              Stress tested for 24hrs?? For what?? You dont have a new computer, you just have a new patch.

                              You have played for a year with your current config, then all but #'s 1,2,3&6 are completely absurd. Please learn something before posting nonsense. Bios settings?? How the hell could Bios settings effect your game when all you did was patch the software??

                                      Number 10, sounds like what my phone company did to me. *cough* Verizon *Cough*

                                      I was wondering why they were charging $40 for 128/768. They jerked me around for awhile and then said it was because I hadn't mentioned it to them! Then I asked about upgrading it then to the 3mb line and they said I wasn't in the right area.

                                      DAMN phone companies.

                                          So you have had your computer for a year? Have you checked it once for viruses or spyware? Are you sure that your cpu or memory hasn't gotten flaky? Do you care? Do you do any maintenance on your computer?

                                          Have you tried anything other than complaining?

                                          A gaming computer is like a Italian sports car, it requires constant attention and adjustment. All I am saying is be proactive make sure your system is completely stable before you blame someone else.

                                          P.S. I have been building my own computers since 1987. I think I might know a thing or two.

                                                  Well I tell ya what I own an italian sports car and a 10 meg line and a decent pc and I find this patch the worst of them. It lags terrible even in lo ping servers, dolphin dives are back and easier to do and red taggers are still on the move but no ctd yet.

                                                      question: why shouldnt u use the incremental...EA posted it and if its bad, they should fix it..otherwise they wouldnt post it

                                                          I used the icremental. As always. No problems.

                                                          Why should the incremental be more delicately regarding errors? It does the same as the full patch: Changing your game files.
                                                          Plus, it even changes less. So why all that fuss about the incremental patches?
