It seems that all this waiting was for the map alone. I don't blame anyone who wants to go into denial atm.

I did find several errors in the official PATCH.ERR log file. I noticed that if the file wasn't found but something was found with the same name nothing changed. That doesn't sit right with me. An overwrite of all those files makes more sense wouldn't it.

    Anyway feel free to flame.

      I use Nero's MD5 Hash Checker:

      http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/eng/Nero_MD5_Verifier.html

Type your supposed hash and select your file and it tests it and gives a simple answer.

        What are you comparing here?

If you installed the final 1.4 patch over the 1.4 beta, then that is the problem. You cannot do this.

My patch log is a lot different, with no md5 errors at all.

Wasn't that even pointed out in the beta warning that also told ppl to make a copy of the vanilla folder?

I use winMd5Sum from nullriver for single file checks.

Yes it was. I even used that info to backup my 1.3 files before adding the 1.4 full patch just in case there was a problem. No problem for me though.

              Re: Patch 1.40 MD5 Checksums

Basically I was doing a diff from 1.4 beta to 1.4 . Why wouldn't/shouldn't/couldn't I overwrite 1.4 beta with 1.4 final then check md5s to compare the differences??

Oh well, I'll do it the long way then:
              1) Install fresh. (and make two backups)
              2) Install 1.3 full and make a checkfile on folder.
              3) Rename 1.3 to something and rename backup.
              4) Install 1.4 beta and make a checkfile on folder.
              5) Rename 1.4 beta and rename second backup.
              6) Install 1.4 Final and make a checkfile on folder.
              7) Finally run a diff to check files.

I have a feeling it's gonna turn out with the same results though.

P.S. You should have errors between a checkfile of 1.4 beta and 1.4 final. They are supposed to be different! That's kind of the point.

What I'm trying to get at is that from 14-Jul-2006 to now nothing much has changed aside from the new map.
My new results might show something else. I'll see.

OK I see what you are doing but that is not what the OP posted about. He just wanted to know about the patch md5sums and not what is changed with the patch. You just went a whole different direction with your post, which really is not needed in this series. You may want to start a new post with your info if you feel the need.

I suggest: I waste my time with md5 checksum comparisons plus double backing up everything instead of listening to installation / deinstallation instructions.

Nah - just post it here if you like. I would be interested myself if the only changes since the last beta version are in this jalajala map (remember the: 'we discovered a severe bug, therefore the release will be delayed' - severe bug on jalajala or what :laugh.

On a side note: only 3! people were able to post their MD5 sums, now you can make an educated guess of the reading abilities of the average forum visitor here :hmm:

I never run any executable if I cannot verify checksums to the file. Viruses, rootkits, and worse can be in any executable. I learned that back in 1987 the first time one of my servers was corrupted by a bad file.

I accept that there's sense behind that routine, but I'm just too lazy to do such things. However, he was clearly showing off, that smartass

Dude, i was showing nothing. I simply said that there are only 3 usefull answers while the rest was useless spam - like your posts - either intentionally or unintentionally not related the slightest bit to my original question.

The only exception was Copy_of_Blah by comparing the latest beta with the final - which seems to be quite a laugh if he's right.

Well, I sensed a lot of arrogance in your post.
Maybe I got something wrong. I beg your pardon.
