i keep gettin connection probs and im assuming its cos i have zone alarm firewall and avg antivirus running when i play.

does everyone turn of their firewalls and anti virus scanners while playing bf2?

I just disable my antiviri when playing and set zonealarm to game mode (right click on ZA near the clock then click game mode). It dosnt make much difference though i still get the same problems you experience but thats proberly down to the 1.3 patch.

No, I keep it on for security reasons. I use Norton Personel Firewall...only time it bugs me is when I install a new patch or mod, it will say Bf2.exe has attemted to aces internet, I just hit permit, and tick the box.

Same here (coupled with windows services locked down) no need for resource hogging, paranoia reaping software thats of no REAL use anyway.

I use zone alarm when Im not gaming, AVG updates when I reboot and after that it stays off until I decide to run a scan. When I do game I turn off zone alarm and let the router do the work.

hmm IMHO zone alram is one of the worst..., dont be lazy, learn your surfing habits and lockdown your comp accordingly. I havent used a software firewall OR AV in over a year now.., never been hacked never had a virus in that time.

i have a hardware firewall in place and i absolutely terminate all security apps whilst playing the game, all antivirus, the last thing i want is real time file protection in-game.....risky i know, but firewall is industrial strength and has done the job whilst av is down so far, which has been a long time. plus i aint opening or dealing with files likely infected during gameplay, and the firewall deals with any dubious port scans or requests!

I have AGV and Zone Alarm always on (Not no game mode crap) and all games online work fine

Your kidding right :laugh: Thats Never going to happen lol. Anyways on to the topic, Ive been using ZA for years with gaming . Only trick i found was ZA security suite worked 100% better then the basic for some reason . When i used the basic id lag like a mofo . Allso i have an Nvidia chipset that has a hardware firewall . Wondering has anyone used the Nvidia firewall much . Just got this mobo a few months ago and havnt had time to try ot out.
