Im just trying to collect all the badges that I need for my next rank, I dont care about vehicle stats and all that, I dont want to hit 50.000 and not rank up tho

I have fun, and every so often a medal comes up which means I think 'ooh, glitter' for a second and carry on.

I think stats/badges/medals are a nice feature of battlefield 2, but not the reason why I play.

I say... not that seriously. I hate it when people play too seriously. Today, I was in someone's squad, and after getting shot, I was yelling "I need a medic here!" but he didn't respond. So I shot him with the pistol and he turned around and shot the bejesus out of me.

When I respawned, I played medic and spammed "Clear!" in his face... he shot me again... and cussed at me...

I sometimes go for the awards like the expert ones if i am really close to getting them but other then that i dont really try. The main thing I go for it the Stats.

I habe all my awards that I wanted, now I play POE2 just for fun. I hate to play for good KDR, every mistake drives me nuts. But when I dont care about deaths I have more fun :)

I'm serious minded in BF2. I play to win, and I'm willing to do almost anything to make sure that my team wins. Of course, this tends to lead to a lot of frustration, when the people on my team are inept. It angers me that I'm in first place with 70+ points, when the second highest score on my team is only 20 or 30, because they're busy getting camped at the uncappable flag, while I'm out trying to save the match by capturing the enemies back flags by myself!

There was one game on a 32 player sized, Daqing Oilfields server, where I got 46 flag captures in a (I think) 20 minute match. My team still lost by 110 points, because the enemy had other like-minded individuals who were capping flags too. It literally went back and forth.

That didn't make me too happy. If even one of the other 15 people on my team would have helped to cap a flag, we would've won that match. Instead they were too busy camping ay the uncappable in the hope of getting a free kill on the people who were also camping them... After we lost, some people on my team started yelling at each other while we were waiting for the 1 minute countdown to reach 0 for the next match to start. One person in particular accused me of hacking, and not helping the team.

I didn't argue. Instead, in the search of vengeance, I switched teams before the next match started. We trounced them by 200+ tickets for the next four matches. Then the same guy who insulted me by saying I was hacking joined our team. He started whining about team-balance being lopsided for our team, so I told him off in a sarcastic manner. I then switched back to the other team, and I helped them to win the next two matches... I told him, "Maybe your team always loses because you're on it." Some people laughed, and I proceeded to bait that whiner until he got himself kicked for swearing.

Yeah, I take this game way to seriously, but I also try to have fun with it.

I don’t take online gaming seriously, that is probably the primary reason why I have never accepted and invitation to join a clan, as I cannot see myself being able to dedicate my time 100%.

I only played ranked servers to get the unlocks, now that I have them all, I don’t feel the need to bother with ranked servers, and will only join one when I play online with my buddy – he is still working towards his next unlocks.

I have to admit, the stats system is sweet and sour, you get the opportunity to work towards a goal, i.e. the unlocks, but with it, you get players who are so focused on the stats (badges/ribbons) that they let the team down.

I would love to see the stats system dropped, that way more people would drop this attitude they have, to play the game for points, and will start playing for fun, as we all used to in BF1942 and BFV.

I think it’s funny how people perceive their stats are some sort of indication of how good a player they are, or worse still, that they actually mean anything - I forget his/her name but a person on this forum actually signs each reply with his name and rank – that to me is very odd; verging on elitist imo.

We all, well the vast majority, list our stats in our signatures, some for a sense of pride I guess, but in my case I use it ‘just for info’; in the event someone wants to look me up (Scort isn’t used as far as I know).

So short answer, no I don’t take BF2 seriously, and feel anyone who does should just lighten up; kick back, have a beer or a glass of red and enjoy the game
