BF2 tells me ive got a problem with my connection???

well this is what happens everytime i go onto a server on bf2 now

firstly the loading is fine i get onto the server usually a ping around 40-60 and then after a couple of munites (sometimes seconds) it suddenly freezes without warning and says

"there is a problem with you connection"

it just wont let me do anything then it logs out of the server goes back to bf2 and says "your connection to the server has been lost"

strange this only started happening a couple of weeks back (i installed V1.3 a couple of months back) and has got worse and worse every day i have installed POE2 a few days back but i cant see that being the problem

plz help before i throw my whole pc out the window

I get the same issue quite often. I don't think it's a problem with our systems. From what I've read around these boards, it seems to be a 1.3 issue and hopefully will be resolved with 1.4.

have you guys tried updating punkbuster or setting the check time to 500 seconds

      something like set pb_sleep 500 i think.

I'm getting the same issue now all of a sudden. I was fine yesterday and now it's consistantly doing it. I get aggravated enough just waiting for the game to finish verifying the client data which takes so long I can sh-it, shower and shave by the time it ends... literally! You can imagine the frustration of waiting so long to join a game only to end up being told the connection has been lost.

On a side note: I wonder why the verification of client data takes so obscenely long on Vanilla BF2 (and PoE etc) and yet only a couple of seconds on PRMM?

You probably have wireless internet whitch the packets go slow. It iterrupts the connection to read them.

Re: BF2 tells me ive got a problem with my connection???

I've been getting the same problem for 4 days now (full modem connection - not wireless).

I found that re-istalling the 1.3 patch helps, but only for a short while.

We'll all just have to hope and pray that 1.4 will resolve the issue... either that or I'm forming a squad and capturing EA's flag

Yeah, hopefully the 1.4 will fix all the issues. Especially the one where game crashes after hitting Join.

I've updated my Punkbuster manually and that has solved the problem thus far. Just download the PBSetup file, run it, select BF2 and update.

Re: BF2 tells me ive got a problem with my connection???

You might need to open some ports if your on wireless. for mine i do the following.

                    1) go to your internet browser address bar and type in the following to access your router

                    "192.168.2.1" (Without the '')

                    2) Login to your router by entering your password, if you didnt set one, leave the field blank and press enter.

                    3) once at your menu, open the "Nat" window, then add the following ports into the fields

                    UDP
                    27900

                    UDP/TCP 29900

                    TCP 80

                    TCP 4711

                    TCP 29901

                    UDP 1500-4999

                    UDP/TCP 1024-1124

                    UDP 28910

                    UDP 16567

                    UDP 55123-55125

                    4) Click "NAT" and then click Enable

Then try that. I had the same problem as you, but with standard BF2. Remember this s what i did with my router, your may be different somehow >_<. I hope that helps anyway Death Merchant =)

Re: BF2 tells me ive got a problem with my connection???

I have a similar issue, I can join a server no problem and play for a minute or so but then my pings will spike from 20-30 to 800-1000 and then back down. If they come back down quick enough I don't get kicked from whatever server but it happens every 2 or 3 minutes. Also, this only started happening in the last 2 days.

I'll try the PB update and see how it goes.

stupid question by me here, but have you scanned your pc for spyware? If i get some nasty spyware, it spikes my ping like that aswell, so i scan it with ad-aware.

I'm getting the same exact problem but the only time it started doing this was wen I moved in to my College dormroom. Does anybody know wat the problem is. Is my schools connection bad? My internet is fast and dowloads are like extra fast so i dont understand y its happening. I freakin got a new laptop to play this game and now I can only play single player. Also does this with CSS.

Yeah I've scanned the PC with Adaware, Windows Defender and AVG (all updated) but nothing was found. I though that these programs themselves might be at fault so I disabled them (and anything else I didn't need) but still no joy. The punkbuster update hasn't made an difference either.

The next step is to change from my wireless card to cat5 and see if it makes a difference. I'm currently using a DLink G520M wifi card. However I've been playing fine with this card before, don't know why this has just started happening recently
