I got the Deluxe with both Vanilla and Special Forces for $40.00 at Target and it was well worth it...
I play SF way more and like the infantry style teamwork and extra equipment. When I do play Vanilla I really miss the grapple, zipline, gas and flashbangs.
I love having the ability to make the game multi-dimensional and moving from building top to building top. You can make entry from a roof top or get into a high position for sniping and using AT to thin out the armor. A squad leader on a rooftop as a mobile spawn point works great if they can resist the temptation to get in the fray and get themselves killed.:laugh:
I bet if people were to get good at using all the features of SF and worked with good squads that know what they're doing they'd like it better than Vanilla. Unless they're jet whores of course!
I don't miss the Planes much at all and in SF you might actually survive long enough to get into a tank battle or get to an enemy flag.:laugh: Well, many of the flags can't be taken by Armor vehicles but they can give a infantry squad some much needed support while they cap the flag. Some still have choppers though, but it's way better than both jets and choppers.
If you tried SF and didn't like it :p; I recommend giving it another chance...
Try to get on a good squad that uses VOIP and works together. Use the extra cool equipment and get good with it. Moving around on many of the urban maps on SF can be alot [better/more fun] if you use or have a squadmate with a Zip or Grapple. Some maps can be crossed from one end to another without touching the ground and many flags can be capped from above by infantry.
The best way to learn on SF is to find good players and squad leaders and follow them around. Learn all of the good ways to move around and where to snipe from etc... If nothing else SF will improve your CQB and likely improve your aim as well; it has helped mine. It's definately more difficult to play well than vanilla IMO, but it's a welcome challenge to most of us who like SF better.
Another benefit is the players seem more mature than on Vanilla IMO. Not that SF doesn't have losers and cheats, but it seems to have less. Most of the servers/admins deal with them pretty well too. I caught a guy wall glitching on warlord and not only did he get kicked, but the admin said he would report him to EA and get his account banned. They seem pretty serious about getting rid of cheaters that's for sure.
Well, If you spend a reasonable amount of time on SF and still don't like it as much fine, but please don't trash it; that just influences others who should make up their own minds and put in the fair amount of time needed to learn it. We really need more SF players and servers...
