Think of the poor bastard commander who besides dropping UAV's, Supplies and such non-stop, also has to go fight the battle because if he left it to you it would mean a loss for his team. Im really tired of people with little skill insulting those who can obviously do something they can't. It's a nasty trend around here and it worsens the game for those who are good at it. Without even looking at your numbers I bet you have about 2 hours of time as a commander and have no idea how it is done. Sorry for being harsh, but this kind of childish crap is getting old.

The commander isn't about ALL playing with the toys. He should issue orders, give squads tactics so they could defeat the enemy. BUT THEY ARENT!!! They just run around going in tanks and not worry about giving orders, nobody could do 2 things at a time like this. I think the commander should just sit down and command. All the commanders I have played with that runs around DOES NOT give out orders.

Im sorry but youre speaking nonsense. I want my commander to tell me where the least resistance is, I dont want my commander to drop me a supply crate when I have a self-healing-supplying squad. If a team sucks balls, then this great player should play on land.

Every time I see a commander on the ground/air, I immediately assume my team plays with no commander and my squad is on its own. And I assume right. I see the commander finish with less than 1:1 KDR and my splly/UAV/arty requests still bleeping on my minimap... which I set there 10 minutes ago.
Don't take this personally, but your post simply means you have played with some crap commanders. I only hope you have the pleasure of being under a commander who knows how to do the job some day. You have never played with me as commander so in defense of myself, you are simply wrong in any assumption you make as to my ability to both command AND fight. Let's review the numbers shall we?

I have over 100 hours as commander.
        I have a W/L ratio of almost 3.0.
(What’s that? He commands AND his team wins? Say it isn’t so!)
        I have a 2.30 KD ratio.
My team, command and combat scores are almost equal.
I have 845 medals 389 of which are gold out of a total of 1622 rounds played which means I place in the top 3 in EVERY OTHER ROUND I PLAY.

It is really getting old that people seem to think that they can state for a fact that a person can't command and fight simply because they have never seen someone do it well. I hate to burst your bubble, but there are a ton of people in the world who do things that you don't think are possible every day when you’re not around to see it.

I guess I am lucky, because I have seen some really good commanders do some cool stuff to help their team win so I don't judge others before they have had a chance to prove themselves. There are more important things in the game to worry about like lack of squads, 75% of your team sitting waiting for a jet to spawn etc. If people would spend half the time trying to work as a team they do bitching and telling others how to do something, the game might be more fun. The battles might be more exciting because people would actually be PLAYING the game instead of trying to tell others how to. Imagine what it must be like to be on a server full of people who are in squads diligently following orders and kicking a$$. Can you see it? If you can’t then I am sorry for you because you must not play with buddies who know how to work together for a win.

Someone just doesn't like how they are doing it I guess. Good commanders make the game so much more fun. Maybe they want that.

One thing that galls me is when you've actually managed to lose a flag (for example one of the gas stations in Mashtuur) and are gettign your butt royally kicked in the other flags, when you eventually manage to break out there is your useless bloody commander just hiding in his little hiding spot and he hasn't even bothered to take the flag back, even though it's been undefended for 5 minutes.

Sure he won't get a capture point for it or anything, but hello, lets give your team somewhere to spawn besides infront of the tank.

No offense taken. You seem to have a false assumption from what I expect from a commander. Information is everything. This means, that I wouldnt have to go and attack a flag that is way over my squads offensive capabilities. A commander should be able to coordinate my efforts. The worst case scenario is where Im a spawnpoint for nearly 5 minutes and my guys cant get the flag down simply because its way to secured. Im a flag hopper myself, and I usually let my commander know that. I play by the rule "the more flags we have the moe secured we are". So in the end, the commander spending his time fighting and only dropping UAV, arty and supplies + vehicles is NOTHING more than a player with extra toys. Its time to ask yourself if youre really commanding? Or are you just playing with an extra set of priviledges? As a player, no doubt, this will make your game more interesting, but I as a squadleader would appreciate as much information on the battlefield as possible. And frankly, more often than not I am force to rely on my own strategical and tactical mind and playstile, which is fine by me because Im getting quite good at it.

I have an account where I raced for as high W/L ratio as possible. I stopped at 17:1, out of 18 games. I was in a jet, and if I was a commander this would have proven what? That Im a "good commander"? No.

If your average infantry stats state that your KDR is 2:30 (AVERAGE), then youre pretty damn good player. And I really DONT think that you have won because of your remarkable commander skills. 845 medals say youve been playing this game for a long time and an average 2:30 (or assault rifle 2:30) KDR shows that you have overcome the newbie 1:1 state a long time ago. I estiamet your average KDR nowadays is at least 4:1? And thats nothing to sneeze out.

If you would have told me your KDR is near 1:1, and youve been commanding and playing and winning, I would have been more impressed.

My main point is, you werent successful because you handled two jobs. You were succesful because youre a dam good player.

I have done it and I have seen good players do it, and they/I always will lack in their commanding touch on the field. Just because you drop commander toys around doesnt mean thats exactly and the only thing I want. My fun also comes from immersion and always on-line intelligence. Im also an avid VOIP user with heavy interaction with the commander. I expect all or nothing from the commander.

If 75% of your team is doing nothing then as a good player/commander youre probably better off reserving that spot for yourself and doing some ground work anyway  .

I dont have 32 buddies on one team every time I play, sorry. I just have a squadful of guys who want to kick *** on the field. Occasionally theres a good commander giving an overview, giving us information on troop movement, armor movement and flag defenses at all times, and this game is awesome because not only its useful for a flaghopping bastard like me, it also creates sh!tload of immersion and doubles the fun. Especially when the commander has got a nice mature male voice full of authority.

Im sorry, I dont want to see a guy in a tank running around the battlefield dropping himself arty/supplies/UAV while having that shiny star above his head.

Opt out of voting in your options, rarely works anyway, and you don't get the option to participate.

Perhaps our ideas of what makes the game enjoyable are not that different. I might have to find you playing some time to see what it's like on the same team. You make some good points. What name do you usually play under?
