Re: My views on how USMC can win Wake Island

I run for the F-35. If I get it I bail over second north flag. This is to ensure that the camping tank on the very North tip can't make it back in time to prevent me from capping that flag. My only real worry is a J-10 getting lucky at strafing/bombing the flag I'm at. This usually gets us the foothold we need to continue if I do get it.

The real key to winning, is playing with hard *** grunts that want to KILL and know how to KILL. If you have the usual softies on your team looking to stay alive for the whole game without having to re-spawn, you might as well watch TV until the map changes..

Oh and your post is nicely thought out, and very surgical, but as someone said...it's a whole different story getting real people to follow that plan. Nicely done though.

the key is as simple as capping a flag as soon as the map starts. once the pla gets entrenched at the two points and they get their attack chopper and j10 in the air it is pretty much futile.

My theory on how USMC can win is taking North AND South bases
        1) this has to be coordinated
        2) getting these bases gets you the tanks
If there's not much (or no) coordination on the Chinese team--they're going to go to get back one of the flags, then get both your USMC forces to get the airbase.
**After that the remaining two bases have just transport and unless they're really good you can quickly defeat them.
PS Of course if they get past you and get the airfield again it's back to square one--- **you have to have a good defense coverage while doing this.
        and a good commander:)

Idiot. How about letting a "pilot" take it so they can ensure J10s and Z-10's don't disinegrate your ***. Take a boat you lazy puke

Re: My views on how USMC can win Wake Island

Any team can win any map IF they actually work as a TEAM. No tricks, nothing fancy, just work in a coordinated effort and avoid the scatter and attack mode that MOST people use in public servers.

Let's not forget that BF2 was touted as a true TEAM experience and the maps ALL reflect this. For every map that the attacker has the disadvantage, the defender has the advantage, BUT only if TEAMWORK is used. In every map, the side with the perceived advantage is given the map to lose if teamwork breaksdown. Same with the disadvantaged team, they will never overcome an enemy (even loosely coordinated) by working independantly.

The truly wonderful rounds (those that end in a 3-0 or something real close) are the rounds where BOTH sides are working as one and the victor is determined by true skill and tactics. THOSE are the rounds I play for!

Were the hell is everyone getting that there is two BH theres only one on wake island its only a 32 player map . You get 6 boats on wake 1 BH 1 cobra and 2 jets for the usmc thats it or am i playing a different version of the map to everyone else.

BTW Jamaicanyouth the first part of your guide is good shame it dosnt work on a public server you need a clan to do somthing that orginized which just shows how imbalanced the map is.

Re: My views on how USMC can win Wake Island

What I've always thought was stupid was that the beach flag is almost impossible to reach by boat anymore. In BF1942 the Japanese had the Hatsuzuki (which, along with the carrier, was movable) parked just south of the beach outpost allowing for them to make a huge beach landing via the boats. Of course, there weren't transport choppers in that map, but the map was a lot more balanced than Wake 2007 is. Using boats in Wake 2k7 is practically suicide becuase it takes so long for you to get anywhere with them and they are fodder for the attack heli, jets, and tanks and AT troopers on the shoreline. Without boats being a reasonable mode of transportation that leaves the helis and jets, and there's only one BH, one cobra (nobody bails out of the Cobra to take a flag, do they?) and the two F35s. That's a MAXIMUM of 10 people that can travel via air to the Chinese bases, and with China having all the AA outposts (not necessarily manned, but they're there if they want them) and the superior aircraft it's a tough road-a-hoe for the US. If the US doesn't strike hard and get a base on the island quickly, then they're usually screwed simply because they've lost too many tickets to be able to overcome the ticket bleed. Unfortunately the only way to truly strike 'fast' before China gets settled is via an F35 SL bailout.

Absolutely. Not even a fully functioning team would swing it. All it takes is for the air to provide.. what's it called again... er.. ah yes.. COVER for a loaded boat and you have a flag. But that's truely asking too much on a public server. Which makes me think, why the hell do i play on them.

Re: My views on how USMC can win Wake Island

That guide was nice! Good work there :)

Blowing up the bridge on Peale-Island (between north base and north village) also saves a couple of tickets so the tank get bombed without shooting to many US.

As a general rule: If teammates on US spot jets, then by teasing J10s with AA can make them drop flares. Then they are easy to pick down for the JSF. This probably will help your squads out so they dont deal to much with attacks from above.

When raping China airfield: request repairs and ammo, so the other jet understands he has his watch as you rearm your jet.

Make a own squad for jets, so Commander can set up attack positions for bombingruns, to help the team clean out hardware like tank and spawnraping transports.

As soon as a flag is capped, make sure to have a transport requested, so you can just go further to next flag. The more fronts China has, the easier it is to get through, and to not be slaughtered by tanks and more.

Send squadmemers to one flag, and squadleader to airfield. This way China commander put UAV at the squadmembers, forcing the team to defend/attack that position, while the Commander assumes "the lonely sniper" is to be taken care of by his team. Helful as he is, he also spots him during a scan, so he makes the spotting-sound, while acctually not pointing him out on the map

Then, when slaughtered at the fake attack-position, spawns fast back on the main flags, to fast get that. Then, have aerial support backup, to bomb tank. Count seconds, sing a song, just have some sort of a clue of how fast time goes. Personally I like singing refrains while raping airfield or use my stopwatch on my throttle.

GET THE TANK, and take out the enemy. Spot-spot-spot.

If its me thats in the air, Ill come hard to take down the helicopter and tanks even with jets on my tail. Ill do this, if I know people on the ground secures the area they have got.

Request UAV, destroy enemy assets. This to not be cleaned out if the enemy gets to white the flag. If they do that; ALL SQUADLEADERS OUT OF CAPZONE. If artillery comes, then one enemy is enough to take back the flag as all US been taken out by arty. Listen for arty, look up for UAV.

Go for AA until all jets are down, this will make first attempt to ground enemy jets to work, and there are no more threaths from above (exept cartillary).

At airfield, ALWAYS stay and defense, uttil you see that half team has started spawning and attacking from there. There will be a much better KDR when waiting for enemy, then rush into an enemy tank.

Remember: there are easy kills putting out C4 in the tight roads into airfield, 3 men in each transport Also eryx from arty works fine.

Thanks for the guide you made, and hopefully many people will use it.

                    P.S!

All maps wich is of the Assault type from sea, is really not good maps for trying to learn flying. Please leave the jets and helicopters to persons that will contribute to their teams success by handling these correctly. Then it might just get that fun that you wont bother anyway. We all know how frustrating it can be to not get off the carrier at all.

                          Here's a surefire way...

Squad leader takes Blackhawk up to 300+ altitude and hovers over airfield or other flags and assaults. Works 95% of the time and gets off bleed within 2 minutes.

That used to work 95% of the time before the BH was over nerfed theres only one problem though.

You either need a squad leader to be an early loader or you need the other side not to have early loaders. Trust me i used to try that all the time but its got so hard resenetly ive given up trying to get on the island whenever im usmc i just end up jumping in the second essex gun and sitting there for the round as normaly thats the only way to get any kills at all.

Yeah the transports seem to be sitting ducks at all times, even in the air...so they're slowly-flying-huge ducks. Even at 300+ feet, it's easy to spot
