Does anyone know why we can't use special characters? If your response is going to be along the lines of "stop complaining and pick a different name" then keep it to yourself.

To me it almost seems like EA is babysitting the series and preventing anyone from putting any kind of clan tags in their name in case they later left said clan but still had to keep the tags. It's absolutely retarded to do things this way and I hope they come to their senses, though I have no realistic expectations that will actually happen. They could have at least given us space, or underscore, or something to seperate two words for example.

my player name was <<GLA>>Crusader and now that wont happen anymore from what i'm hearing u ppl say, but i cant even load the page.

just use Crusader.. and use the <<GLA>> in the clan tag

lets just say that crusader is a very used name :p, i just went with Evil_Crusder wich was my 1st nickname ever and i'll add the <<GLA>> then.

Not being able to put [] or <> or = is probably due to the fact that BF2142 (like BF2) will allow u to put a prefix infront of it. Then, u will be able to put those wacky signs. Remember, u cant change your name, so I suggest picking a good one not including your clan tags.

That's generally good advice. In fact I would gladly do that if the prefix box was large enough to accomodate my clan's full tag. They had to invent an abbreviated tag to fit in the prefix box for members who joined after they had already played BF2 a bit (such as myself). With the new game coming out I was looking forward to being able to wear the full tag, but I guess EA had another idea.
