My Bf2 dvd is always in the machine, and it is typically on 24/7.

I rarely remove mine from the tray, much less open the drive. No problems so far.

Why would you remove it? I should seal my drive and label it the BF2 drive...I use my other drive to install software or rip music.

I keep mine in also, and I shut my system down at night.

Not to mention I use the SF's disk also.

Being a Network Admin, I have 1000's of devices on my WAN that never get powered down. Leaving things on is actually better sometimes then turning it off.

That said, I have started to turn off my home gaming machine more often, because of the heat it generates and I think it does have a 5-10% effect on my power bill every month.

And, I too leave my BF2 DVD in the machine at all times. (actually it is my SF disk, not BF2)

My disk is always in my drive. I just put my system into hibernate at night.

I recommend Daemon Tools as well.

If your drive isn't spinning and your disc isn't hot to the touch, then I don't see a problem.
