If they standardize the effects on the terrain and set lofty minimum thresholds, I can see it in Multiplayer. Considering that 6MB Cable internet is getting to be as common as 56k was back in the day and speeds promise to continue to increase...
A handgrenade shouldnt take a chunk out of a concrete wall, but a pack of C4 could breach most cement structures and tank-rounds would punch nice holes in the cement... when you start talking about major data-flow is when you begin to consider destructible terrain. Bombs leving craters and turning rivers into ponds.
