i think something is wrong there!

might have been done but ask Ea what evidence they have for the reset, and just ask for the stats to be reinstated.

and shame on all those who just did the easy thing of "omgz ur so lame who cares bout this kinda thing??? !!! ???"

I've played over 667 hours. In that time I've been on just about every server. I have never seen anyone score 300+ points in one round. I can see why EA is looking at scores like that, than then resetting them. Sorry.....just my opinion.

Your telling me that he was getting 750 GS per hour? That is very hard to believe. -=RD=-Volx only gets 341 GS per hour. If you were accurate rancid_elf that is more than likely why he had his stats wiped.

          Nevermind......

Well before the patches came out 300+ on a blackhawk was easy. Working as a team you have the pilot being a support. 2 Medics on teh guns & 2 engineers in the back.

Every kill the gunners get the pilkot gets a point. Every flag you capture he gets 4 points and with 5 people in a BH you capped a flag in seconds.

Every time someone got wounded in BH teh medics would heal and pilot gets a point for driver assist. Every repair of BH the engineers did the pilot got an assist. Every time the engineers at back through out granades the pilot got a point for resupply...You see where this is going.

With a good team on a blackhawk and a round that lasts 30-60 mins you could get well over 300. Iv seen a guy with over 350 points when the game 1st came out. And none of this is padding

It's not difficult to get on a 16 slot server running 64 size maps and get high scores. The rounds last a long time and a skillful player can get some pretty high points. I don't think 300 points is unreasonable under those circumstances. I myself have gotten close to 200 points on a server like that by just ground pounding. Now 500 to 700 is pretty unrealistic. A good heli pilot with a competent gunner could easily get 300 points on a server like that.

You can´t say that was easy, because killing 150 guys in a BH, even before the patch seems fishy...I am not saying that was impossible, but for you to have more than 300 points with a mini gun you must have killed a lot, and I mean a lot of people.
And you must hope that your and the other team don´t kill lots of people.

P.S: - But in my opinion you shouldn´t reset this player...they should go after players wich their favorit victim was victimized more that 25 times.

Anti-defamation lawsuits are usually reserved for the arean of employment. As that effects a persons livelyhood. I hardly think that is the same as an in game persona.

Re: Map Score of 300+ say goodbye to stats

I guess is sucks to have stats reset for some folks. But to your point about litigation.

Like stated before, you agreed to surrender your "rights" to pursue legal action against EA/DICE for things like getting your stats reset. If you had not agreed, you would not have been able to play online. If you don't read anything before you sign it, (and YES, clicking "I agree" is the legal equivalent of a signature) then it is just tough. That is life.

Libel has to be proven and as part of the proof, the defendant MUST show injury. A screen name in a computer game is annonymous and therefore NOT a public extension of a real person's character. Libel and slander are actions that are done in the public eye that cause material or personal damage and are based upon ficticious or otherwise unproven statements about the person libeled or slandered. A BF2 player account can not and does not fall into the legal parameters of the definition of "who" when proving libel or slander.

Actions similar to what you are proposing will only hurt the game industry in the future. IF these type lawsuits are allowed to go forward, then you will see an increase in the costs of online multiplayer games. Why? Because if the game companies risk being sued, then they must set aside money for legal fees in defending from such suits. They will not reduce their profit margin to cover legal expenses, so they increase the retail price to help offset. This is the case with just about all consumer goods and services that have ever been part of a lawsuit.

I think that anyone hung up enough about having an online game account re-set to file a libel lawsuit is a few sandwiches short of a picknic and should be placed in the blocks and flogged in the town square. Frivalous lawsuits are chocking the court systems and accomplish nothing but raising the consumer costs in order to defend agaist said lawsuits.

                      Totally absurd.

You will find it affects all walks of life. If my neighbour walked into my local pub and made lies about me which labeled me a theif and I got banned from that bar I would sue him under Slander for defamation of character.

If my local news paper run a storey which told untruths about me I could sue them under libel. It comes under everything. The larger effect the larger the payout.

So in a case of losing income then it would be higher than being banned form a bar etc :)

Lets say for example someone spends half their life in online games but feels he / she can no longer go there due to being labeled a cheat and not feeling confortable in servers where people thinks they are a cheat then obviously that would not justify much but it still could be dealt with to clear ones name.

It does still come under Libel in that case because the persons character, regarless of life identity or cyber identity. They are both the same. An Identity is an identity.

If I said the name here rancid_elf many of you who are reading this would say yup we know of that identity...why because you have read this post lol.. Some might know me because of being admin on a server or even joining me in a game and being part of team play with me.

If I said the name Mickey Mouse ( which is my real life identity none of you would have ever heard of it. See my point...An identity is an identity.

You can say well its cyber space so just change your identity. Well then why not say if you have been libeled in real life why not just change your name. ok ok I know before I get slammed its slightly different but its the principle I mainly refer to. I have been known under the name rancid_elf for the last 18 years of cyber usage ( BBS's etc before the net became big ).. Why should I change my identity of rancid_elf in cyber space because some company feels in its power to label me as a cheater and mare my name...
Damn it I would want to clear that name.

I think your missing my point...ITS PRINCIPLE. Why should we allow big brother to bully us?

If I hacked you in this cyber space and stole all your email accounts and accounts for online gaming would you just say...o well what the hell. hummm.. I think not.

And go on say well hacking is illegal.. Well is not Libel illegal? Also I think you will find Libel laws in the USA are different to what they are in the UK

I can’t believe this... they can’t delete acounts like this without notice just because someone got
a score over 300 + in a round. In my stats I have 1 round with the MEC of 654 points and another one of 438 with USA. How I got it? Played Medic in a P&K only server couple times... What??
Yes I am very good with pistols and knife and Defib so what? EA doesnt realise how many P&K servers there is out there do they!! Who here never played in one of them? Those are real Ranked servers and if they are there for me to play in I think I have the right to do so! But I think I played there only a couple times and to be honest I got my expert knife on a normal server... If EA reset my stats I will never buy one of there game ever!! I am a 24 yold working full time and playing couple hours a week and I enjoy the stats system because I can compare with other players and it gives more challenge to the game. If EA ever do that I think there going to ear from us!

                            Thanks

Rancid, Lots of things are right or wrong on principle, but you are advocating a legal action and therefore throw principle out of the window. I know that the libel laws in the UK are different than they are here in the US. The person who feels they have been libeled/slandered in the UK has a much greater chance of getting a settlement due to the broader definitions of the law.

BUT, the online BF2 account is NOT:

                                1) related to this person's income
                                2) a "public" and outward representation of the person
                                3) is not actually owned by the person.

Therefore, having your stats reset does not create any libel situation at all. Impeading your gameing pleasure on a RANKED server is not injury. You are not banned or barred from starting over and you can always play on an un-ranked server. So, your pursuit of happiness has not been revoked or abridged.
