You know this could be why I dont get that CTD problem, I googled it when I did have the problem and proceded to remove that patch after hearing people where having problems with it.

Ha, and to think ive had the solution to everyone problems stuck in my head for months.

i know i shouln't unninstall the KB917422 patch, could it be so dangerous as it sounds? certainly only 2,3 persons in 10 windows users have this patch installed, most ppl dont care about microsoft update...

im not afraid to be unprotected without this patch.

why i didnt unninstalled a few minutes agow and tried the game?

i didnt unninstall it because, before uninstalation process begins a warning window appears saying that some programs could not work fine if i remove this patch...including 5 others microsft patches,user interface UPnP(?), hitman blodd money,Elite Utilities 9 Professional, and J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 8

i prefere to wait for some expert opinion saying its safe and warmless to the programs above the unninstalation of KB917422,or not...

can anyone give us help?this could be a solution to a problem that affects a lot of bf2 players.

After i installed kaspersky anti virus.. I crashed to desktop every freakin' time I hit the Join button .. I uninstalled KASPERSKY No more problems!!! Maybe uninstall your virusscanner/ or get another..

Maybe this weill help someone..

ok since i dont have that certain update on my comp, its prob not the thingy casuing the ctds cuz i get those when i hit join game

it works!!!!!!!! i have no CTD after "joing game", i cant believe
after 1 week i can play :)


but i cant promise it will work on 100% games, anyway it works for me :)

didnt worked for me...:cry:

ctd problem continuos when i hit join server.
i tried installing the battlerace mod just to see if it works,but no,same crash to desktop problem.


now the only hope i have is the patch 1.4!

I don't think this update has anything to do with it. I installed it on 8/15 and I definitely have been crashing to desktop when I hit "join game" since the 1.3 patch, not just the last 6 days . Thanks for the idea though.

Interesting. I too suffered with CTD, but I aint had it for ages!

Mine was a memory problem, it was set too high. I also did a few other fixes, cant remember exactly sry.

here,the ctd problem didnt start with 1.3 patch...starded after i arrived from a 2weeks vacation.and the pc had been always turned off during that period.

strange,i didnt change nothing,turned on the pc,checking the email,WINDOWS UPDATE,etc....and then i went to play battlefield and puff...crash to desktop.

1.4 patch is going out this week??
