Stay back and pick off enemies while your teammates to move forward. Try the Support or Medic if you want to assist them in battle.

Avoid wide open areas, hide behind corners, crates, trees, vehicles, anything. Just don't lay down in the middle of the road. But don't stay in one place too long. Keep moving to avoid snipers.

Try not to teamkill with grenades.

Keep a constant watch the mini-map, the UAV, and enemies people spot. You never know when a guy is around the corner. Always spot enemies for your teammates. And always know your surroundings.

When a flag is under heavy siege, don't spawn there. Chances are... you'll die the second you respawn. Remain at the next closest flag and wait for your squad to regroup.

1st pick a kit which u like. so say if its assault. use everything in that kit to your advantage. like the smoke grenade. If ur losing 1 v 1 use the smoke grenade and run back then go arround and shoot him. Say if ur a medic. Before u jump into a battle put a ton of medic packs arround so u can run back and heal urslef when low on health. Or if a sniper. place ur claymores in ally ways. even special forces. put c4 in allys and when theres a group of them there, hit that button and BOOM. u got 4 kills.

2ndly go in a group and stay close togeather. u work alot better in a group than being a lonewolf.

Well I just got my best ever round score, so im happy!!

And got the armored service ribbon. Didnt even mean to, well chuffed.

Although most of that was in vehicles, im slightly improving I think with the combat. Gonna slowly bring this K/D ratio up!

i suck, but ill try an give some tip anyway....

first.....practice....thats the only way to get better.....try an see what your doing thats getting you killed, or getting u kills, and work from there....

i think u should start off with a hard class......i started off with AT.....it was hard for me.....i stopped playing it when i got my veteran badge for AT.....and i went assault.......assault seemed like god-mode by comparison.....then after assault vet badge, i went to spec ops.....spec ops seemed like god-mode by comparison to assault....

basically what i did was get vet badge for a class, then moved to the next....i think its not until you get vet badge that you gain fammiliarity with a particular class......so i think this is good practice...

what i do whenever i start a round, i will join every squad to see which ones have orders set, and which ones are sticking together....if i find more than one, i find one thats missing the class i like to play.....if there is only one, i will join and choose a class that isnt in the squad already....

dont pay attention to score....or points....they do not reflect skill, or help in getting better.......point-whores arent that good

It's all good advice.

Become proficient with your weapon first before you start taking on Close Quarters stuff.

Map you keys till they are comforable and effecient. If you reaching for a key constantly more then one that is closer and more easily "hit" , then swap the two out for each other. Continue to refine your keys to improve your reaction time.

Personally I don't use the scroll for weapons, it may be slick but its entirely ineffecient. Have your three main weapons you use with in reach and readily available. That way you can go from mainweapon, to pistol, and then to grenade, or any combination of that with out scrolling through other weapons.

Stay back, pick off poor bastards who are getting into these frantic fire fights. You might have to sit still and wait more then you like, but it will help you realize what the weapons can and cannot do. It will help you get the feel for what a good shot feels like. Watch your ret indicator to tell you if your hitting home or not. Just because the reticule or the iron sites are on an object doesn't mean you connnecting. Go by the ret indicator as a guideline to what works ,and what doesn't.

Never fire standing up unless you have to. Crouch or prone, pick one and try and make firing and one of these stances put together as one move. The two should be synonymous with one another. Crouch or proning when firing should become second nature and not something you have to think about. Crouch fire, crouch fire, crouch fire. Map your keys to make this particular combination not cumbersome if you have to.

Have paitence. There are so many things going on in this game compared to other shooters, that getting blindsided over and over again is just part of the learning curve.

I suggest you go medic and use the L85A1 you've unlocked as I think its possibly one of the best guns in the game and is a good allrounder. The other advantage is that you can heal yourself and last a lot longer. If I feel as though I'm about to die I find cover, quickly heal myself, and get back to the fight.

One of the mistakes I made early on in the game was running round like a headless chicken trying to get kills. Defending and capturing flags focuses you and helps your team more, and you'll get extra points too.

Medic whore + Karkand = high points (and teamwork score) but low KDR. Small price to pay i think, if you are a really badass medic like me.

No I want to get better at the game.

I was always very good at CSS, but got bored. Thats not me being bigheaded, just honest. I was awesome at CSS, but struggle so much with BF2. But I prefer BF2, and want to be a good player.

If you were a good CS player, the hardest part of BF to get used to IMO is the "randomness" of the weapons. Start up a SP game, go commander, find a wall, and drop a supply crate for yourself. Shoot your main weapon at the wall a hundred different ways and watch how the bullets land. So do single shots, short burst, empty the clip. Do it standing, crouching, prone. Zoom and unzoomed. The more you know about your weapon and how it handles, the better.

If you run out of ammo in a close fight, you can switch to pistol faster then you can reload. And the pistol is the most accurate weapon in the game, even at long range. Don't bother zooming, just point it their head, and fire as fast as you can.

As others have said, pick a kit you like, and keep playing it till you get good with it. Once you feel you have a good grasp for it, pick another kit and repeat. Your knowledge of one kit will build the next one. It will also help you understand your oponent's tactics better.

Like you see someone throw a grendade, rush them, you can kill them before they have time to switch weapons.

When in doubt run. That sounds cowardly, but it's playing smart. You always want the fight to be on your terms whenever possible.

The first one in usually dies. If you have a good medic in your squad, you can count on being revived. If you don't maybe you should be that medic?

Also been mentioned, but controls help. I have an MX-510 mouse, which has two thumb buttons, so I've mapped:

LMB: Primary Fire
RMB: Secondary Fire
MMB: Weaon 3 (Your main weapon)
Thumb Button #1: Weapon 4 (Grendades for most classes, rocket for AT.)
Thumb Button #3: Weapon 5 (Bags for Medic and Support, C4 for spec-ops, etc..)
I've also remapped "F" to be my pistol.

Having quick access to everything helps. You will be worse at first until you get used to it, but once you do, it will be second nature.

dude man i started this game off like 1.5 months ago too without playing any of the past series and yes there is a learning curve. just because you have played fps' before doesn't mean you are going to own everyone right when you play. if you keep playing, i think it'll click for you in a month or so. as you play more, you can move better and just instinctively know what to do in certain situations and not have to think. aim is only one part of the game and you might have been good at that in past fps' , but movement will get you out of a lot of sticky situations.

I was in the same boat at you when I first started. I have since learned many valuable lessens. one don't fire at a bunch of guys on the other team if they out number you and have better weapons, you may get one but they are probably in a squad talking to each other. It is better to watch them and wait for the opportunity to pick one off at a time if you can. Medic is a good class and the l8 rules. the thing I have learned is use the single shot at medium to long range. I have killed many snipers that way, if they hit me I duck around the building heal myself and keep pumping rounds into them. Keep your eyes open, spot for the team, watch for other teams UAV, if it is over you the other team knows where you are. keep your squad healed, ammo, or fixed. use single player to practice with weapons and head shots.

last but not least. have fun and don't worry about the stats.

You say you have a hard time with bunny hoppers and CQB? Do you have your weapons sight up when you are firing at close range? That could make it a little tough if they are close and moving. Try using the crosshair and aim for upper chest or head. Just a thought GL.

-One of the most important thing in being a squad is USE VOIP (voice over IP). Get a headset or at the very least, a desktop gooseneck (the type you can adjust the position anywhere) microphone and start speaking to your teammates. Unfortunately, there are some servers that disable VOIP (why?!?!?) and one can tell if you look at the squad list and see that there is no mic icon on the right of a teammate's name.
-If you're surrounded BY A LOT of your teammates on a small area, GET OUT OF THERE. You'll be nothing but a lump of meat for an artillery attack or by an armoured vehicle.
-If you prefer to be use a large variety of kits, I'd start out as support. I personally choose the PKM over others due to its heavy firepower and the fact that you can "get use to" it's recoil and deviation since the support guns tend to have high deviation and recoil. If you're confident enough to use the PKM, you can go choose other kits like the assault, spec-ops, medic and you might have a much easier time to use carbines and assault rifles thanks to the learning curve of the support weapons.
-Use any indestructible obstacles to your advantage. ALWAYS crouch or prone when attacking enemies behind an obstacle.
-If using an anti-tank missile launcher, you know you can still hold on to your left mouse button and use your sights to aim at an enemy? These things, except for the RPG-7 in Special Forces, do have laser guidance.
-Grab any light vehicles and use the mounted machine gun to your advantage. You can bring down suppressive fire to any incoming enemies and not to mention, take down any enemy helicopters.
