Easy there. 2012 is the year that the Long Count ends. The 5250 year processional cycle that the Earth takes to make one revolution along the axis wobble path. It also is when we will be aligned with the exact center of the Milky Way Galaxy. The calander continues as the Maya have names for the next baktuns. This count ends in 2012 and a new age begins. What the Maya called "births". Please read all of the codecies that have been found and translated. The one you draw from only deals with major events in their calendar system and does not go beyond this current age. And don't forget that we only have 7 codicies, the Spainiards burned hundreds of them while trying to convert the Maya to Catholocism.

That sounds pretty exciting actually. I wonder what the new age will bring.....maybe less stupid people......than again, probably not.



I for one though am not happy at how the world is becoming more and more dependent on technology, well what happens when that technology goes away. Think of how enemy powers could use EMP blasts to render are military useless....

I was watching a show not to long ago about a series of wargames that the US was doing. It had a retired general pitted against the modern military. He won using the old tactics of the day, not relying on technology.

You would think the US military would take this to heart and ween off the use of technology(for even the most BASIC things) but nope, instead the ignored all the warnings and are continuing to push farther and farther in....and soon, they wont be able to get out...

I think that the amount of people who are buying top of the line PC's is getting smaller.

2 yesrs ago maybe 40% of people could run a top of the line game on a normal PC.

Who could run the up coming Crysis game on a normal bought PC?????

BF2 needs a really good system..........

When I strarted playing PC games I could go to any PC shop and play nearly any game out there, now you need to have a really really good set up to play the newest games!

Unless you know about what your system can do you have no chance, 60% of poeple gone :hmm:

3 years ago I could buy any PC and play half life and have fun, now could I just buy a PC and play BF2? the answer is NO....

PC gaming is the forefront but at the sametime it is the past........who is going to make games for a very small amount of people who can have leet leet cards and processors????? When most people don't??????????

The basic computers that people buy nowadays have onboard graphics and basic extras. The store bought PC is meant for light work like eamil, word processing, ect.. Games are geared towards videocards and high spec PC's, which have to be custom built to the specificaions of the games. Any store bought PC that can play any current day game at a reasonable experience is well over 2000$, when it could be built for 1000. Basically, if you want a gaming multimedia machine, build it yourself

intel have 32 core proccesors in the works for 2011-13 :) and videocards wont exist the calculations will be done by the huge cpu's that will have acsess to its own MRAM and HDD's will be solid state and there are processors in the works that dont use silicon they are fibre optics as fast as light they have models allready that can do basics maths and such wait a few years it will come to light :p

oh btw sun microsystems have a 32 core cpu for super servers that they have on the market now 30 grand a piece though

Should real WAR turn into some kind of Video game.
Should problems between country's be decided in a LAN battle (sucks major balls if you get connection problems)

don't worry nothing like that will be coming to us in any sort of meaningful way anytime soon (ie. within the next 40 years)

also the pc will cease to be used for gaming soon enough if consoles keep evolving really if you put a mouse and keyboard or a just as effective interface on a console now you would pretty much bankrupt the pc gaming industry

but umm... no if pc's are not used for playing games anymore that would have little effect on consoles sure a console is just a pc that can only play games HOWEVER the games are streamlined for the console and built around the console instead of being built for a wide range of diffrent hardware the population of gamers that want to shell out hundreds of dollars every time a new game comes out is shrinking every year especially when pc games are getting less and less inivative. The ps3 will in no way be the last say in consoles to even think that is mildly retarded this industry is about money consoles do atleast triple the buisness that pc games do the future of gaming for anyone with half a brain is in consoles as long as they can get a better control interface

p.s. the only console I own is a ps1 :P

Also, the number of cores on a CPU doesn't matter much at all, with today's programming languages it's hard to access beyond 2 or 4 cores/cpus.

Even with that many threads, it's going to get to a point where the programmer and computer likewise gets extremely confused. Which thread was this executing on again? I forgot to stop this one? Very buggy.

And today's programming languages are expected to last VERY long, as stuff like Fortran and BASIC are still around from the '40s.
