I'd say that it's a 95% or better chance that someone actually did cheat on your CD-key (you or perhaps somebody else). Punkbuster does make mistakes though but chances are you'll end having to buy a new copy of Battlefield 2. If you're innocent that sucks but look at it this way - it's the cheaters you should be angry at and not PB. While it's far from perfect PB does a pretty good job catching and banning cheaters (might take a couple of months though...). Without PB or the equivilent this game would surely be a cheater infested piece of crap.

It'd be hard to look on the bright side, when a flaw in the game's security causes you to lose $50 on a game you can no longer play.

He'd be in the right to be outraged if they screwed him over circumstances that he has no control over.

Fifty bucks? You can buy unused legitimate Battlefield 2 CD-key off Ebay for less than ten bucks. In fact they were ten bucks 8 months ago so who knows how cheap they are now.

Not trying to be rude but i'm just wondering how can you possibly know how many cheaters or hackers punkbuster is catching?

All you get is a number on how many they have managed to catch you have no idea how many it didnt catch.

I once thought that it was doing a good job because the game didnt have any hackers in it. Then I saw some videos of aimbots and things and discovered the reason I dont notice is because (in bf2 atleast) these aimbots/hacks whatever just arent that good.

So if the hack doesnt really make you a better player than anyone who isnt cheating how are you supposed to figure out who's hacking and who isnt.

Ok how'd you come across that info and how the heck they get my cd key ! And far comeing off like a dik well guess if you guys got banned for no reason. I'm sure you would be a lil hot under the collar.

as a guess? did you install any "programs" that might be considered shady? a LOT of keys were stolen from a hack that was released...that sort of thing

given the records? you MIGHT be able to go thru EvenBalance and get them to tell EA that it was not a cheat and EA MIGHT replace the code....but I wouldnt hold my breath

The bright side is you can get another cd-key cheap, and keep your main account. Or if you don't want to spend money, just trade cd-keys with someone, it may or may not work.

I don't know when a person has 50,000 positive feedback chances are they're pretty trustworthy. My roomate bought himself a BF2 key on Ebay about 8 months ago like I said for about 10 bucks and it still works just fine. Got it by email in about 20 minutes.

I personally keep tabs on the couple largest online gaming cheating forums out there (which shall remain nameless) for new potential "threats" to keep an eye out for and I constantly see people posting about how they've been hardware/GUID banned. Do they get everyone? Certainly not. But they've still banned thousands of cheaters and most importantly I'm certain PB has discouraged many thousands more (I'd estimate the total number to be well over 50,000) from hacking when they otherwise might have if no risk was involved. The thing I like about PB is that is a anti-cheating platform that spans many popular games so a cheater whom was hardware banned in CS:S won't be bothering you in Battlefield 2. Prevention is the best medicine when dealing with serial cheaters.

I wonder how many of those secure CD-keys you guys bought at a discount have been compromised. I guess since there hasn't been a problem yet, that you assume there never will be one.

Three months as an Admin at a Guild Wars forum was more than enough first hand experience of all the whines regarding E-bay CD-key scams.

Go ahead and gamble. It's only $18, right?
