Hey admins,

I have been kicked only 3 times and banned 0. That's right, 3/0. The first one was for making room for a clan member. No problem. The second was for a negative score; an unbelievable series of events which caused two guys to spawn right in front of me while I was defending a flag. The third one was for attacking a helicopter as it was about to take off on a cap flag. This I had a problem with. 1) It was not stated as a rule during the map load screen, and 2) it is a stupid rule.

Please post your rules on the map load screen.
Don't make stupid rules (no flying unless the third Tuesday of every month!)

I spend now 3-5 hours of admin
per 1 hour of game play
but at least we get 10 to 1 compliments vs smacktards
about how we admin our server
must be doing something right
we went from 24 man server to 32. 36. 40, 50
all since may
and get full at night and are up at least 14 hours per day

I understand your frustration, mr. admin... but don't make stupid f*cking rules like "you can't use the heli if no one wants to gun for you": if you can manage to keep things simple and logical, your work will be half done. Otherwise, get ready for problems like the abovementioned...

That the other thing I hate about ranked servers, the amount of money EA force you to pay for them is ridiculous. and no doubt it will continue with BF2142.

Our dedicated box running 128 slots split over 3 servers costs in the region of £2500, a year, probably a bit more.

Gotta disagree, the players see what they have time to see in the midst of gaming. The admins see the 50 odd lines on the chat log after someone comes back after being kicked and mouths off as well as what they see when they're actually ingame as a player.

If i kick someone, they are perfectly entitled to come back and continue playing provided they take note of why the were kicked, and dont then debate it. Sometimes, yes, a hard line is required. But the majority of the time, if you warn someone, or ask them politely to refrain from doing something they apologise and oblige. And theres no need to go all right wing Nazi on their arse. Sometimes, people deserve the benefit of the doubt.

That's the point though... we can't say "shut up or be kicked" with the current R.O.E. in place...

This is as simple as it gets.

You, as admin can kick ANYONE for disrupting gameplay, at any time. Bending the rules is no news for admins. Sometimes its justified, sometimes not.

If you have a large clan, you don't need the visitors.

It's still great to have them, but I think everybody can do without the smacktards.

This is a case of a dumb player that wont let go. You need to be a little more harsh and tell him to shut up or be kicked.

While you treat your visitors with respect, remind them that they are just guests. And this kind of "abuse" isnt even abuse. You guys are soft-hearted.

Ive had to deal with intentional server crashes, inability to ban/kick, racism and outright hacking, just done for the sake of harassing administrators/clan.

I can assure you, they do not.

Youre right, they see more, because its the players that are under the abuse of smacktards, and not the admins.

As an admin, if you want to deal with smacktards, you just kick/ban them. If they post an appeal, you re-check his/her case, check the log, and post a final word. No need for debates nor arguments.

Vast majority of cases where admins get "abused" is where they give smacktards too many chances. Personally, as a strickt admin, Ive received negative feedback for being harsh, but apart from one case, Ive been fair, and a since I solve things in a quick manner, I have never had to deal with BS, as you guys claim you deal with.
