More times than not, when a person spawns they don't turn and fire. They get killed before they have a chance to do anything. So this is quite the reverse of what you perceive.
I'd say unless your team has all the cappable flags, attacking the uncap is pretty lame - even to keep jets or helos grounded. People who do that have a fear that the other pilot is better than they are, and will get owned in the skies. What's wrong with waiting 2 more seconds for a kill?
But what do I know, 50% of my kills are from actively hunting AFKers. L33t skillz.

) I TV'd another Chinese helo that was flying towards our newly acquired spawn point, then took out a tank that was also going towards the flag. By this point we had taken all of the flags and all that was left was the uncap.
