Hello there
this summery was wirtten by one of the Battlefield series veterns from the
BF Israeli community who play's this game since 1942.
Summery thats says all in my opinion.
Take few minutes to read this and post your opinions and thoughts.
"So long BF
Reflections on BF2's final moments.
For the past few weeks I've hardly played the game. For a few years, ever since I bought BF1942 I was a fan of the game series. I experienced all the fun parts and **** buggy parts of BF1942 and BFV. For the past year I've played BF2, and I must share with you all the frustration I feel inside.
Patch 1.2 has ended the reign of the bunny hopping. At that point, EA or Dice (No idea who makes these calls, but he must be very dumb) have decided that they will listen to the pub/noob community and take out the "fire while jumping" feature. The noobs claimed that "WAHHH!!! ITS LAME!" even though they could have used that feature themselves. But no, they had their "dignity" and the idea of "fair play" even though that options like these are open for anyone. Moreover, they have claimed that the feature shouldn't be there because it doesn't exist in real life and looks pathetic. Funny thing is that they thought BF2 or any other BF game was meant to be a realistic game, which features realistic combat. Fact is that the BF series was always light years away from realism. If any of the were looking for a combat simulator they were looking the wrong place.
But hey, I don't really care about these noobs. They exist everywhere, and you can find them in every multi game community. The problem was that for the first time, the company that is responsible for giving support for this game (e.g. patches) was actually listening to those ****ing retards. For the first time, a multi game was at the hands of complete noobs who have no idea what so ever in gaming ("HOW DARE YOU DODGE MY BULLETS YOU NOOB!!! UNFAIR!! MOM!!!!!"). EA and Dice have given these noobcakes the keys for BF2's future.
EA's excuse for making this horrible change was that they thought that with bunny hopping the game wasn't as teamwork based as they wanted it to be. I wonder whether anyone has felt any difference in teamwork before and after that patch. In the public scene nothing has changed, and teamwork is like a rare endangered species. In the competitive scene the teamwork wasn't improve a bit either. So where is that magnificent change that was promised? I'm sorry to tell that to EA/Dice, but medics are still running on my corpse, commanders still place artillery fire where their team members are going to and so on. Teamwork-wise the game has remained the same.
When EA has announced the upcoming changes that were introduced in patch 1.3 some elements of the community were enraged. Some Dice employees have decided that squad hopping is a bad thing and must be taken out of the game. The feature/exploit that has made the game so fast and tactically great was removed because some Dice employees and a few community members didn't like it. And I'm asking where is the ****ing reason? Why nerfing this game's tactical aspect? It doesn't matter why, once these guys have made up their minds they don't care if the world collapse - they will ruin that feature! The competitive community has asked the squad hopping to be a server side option so it could be used in this scene (in which tactics means a lot). These guys have even made a petition and gathered about 10,000 signatures. EA and Dice, in turn, decided that they already know what is best for all of us, and announced that they will nerf that feature anyway (because they have no idea how to face problems without nerfing features down. They don't want to spend the time in working on that server side option. Nerfing is the simple answer, so they took it, even though it is harmful for the game). Ever since it was nerfed the game has become slower and more frustrating than it was already.
Moreover, they guys at Dice's offices have decided to give the community some new cool tools that no one has asked for (!!!) such as the idiotic vehicle drop option which introduced 1. a way of destroying an artillery, 2. A precise artillery which can be used against vehicles and troops alike, 3. A way of becoming invincible in Karkand's hotel, YAY! These guys have also added that stinking co-op crap. WHO THE **** ASKED FOR IT?! Instead of dealing with important bugs and issues they made these changes. How sad. BTW, some guys have asked the cartillery be removed, but Dice don't feel like it, and don't care much.
Even after these stupid changes the noob community was still complaining saying that prone spamming, a method that is used to gain accuracy and avoiding being shot, damaged the infantry gameplay, so they asked it be removed. I'm not saying that the prone spamming was the brilliant feature/exploit of the century, but it has definitely gave the gameplay some color and depth. Patch 1.4 will introduce the destruction of prone spamming, thus letting us enjoy a CS-gameplay-style, because the infantry part was nerfed to the simplest thing that it could have been. Anyone who knows CS can tell how to play it. You crouch and shoot. Now BF2 is about the same. You crouch and shoot. I don't recall myself wishing to play that gamestyle. If I was looking for such a thing I would have bought CSS, not BF2. 1.4 will be CS with vehicle and commander, or in other words CounterField. I don't see any reason for playing this game as it is going to be.
How the **** can any serious player play a game which is being changed every two months? Why do we have to learn this game every time again and again?
The funniest thing is that before 1.4 beta was published Dice have made a conference at its HQ in Sweden, a conference in which Colin Clark, Dice's community manager (CM) have told the clanners that Dice cares about them and that they are important for them. They said that they will listen to them more oftenly and so on. These sayings were proven pure lies when 1.4 beta was released showing how much Dice doesn't give a damn about this part of this community. In my honest opinion I think that this conference meant to give some more information to the clan community about BF2142 and to attract their attention to this game. This was pure PR which didn't offer anything to the competitive scene but "BF2142 HAS COOL FEATURES HERE AND THERE! BUY IT!!!".
That meeting in Dice's HQ was one of two steps these guys have taken because that after 1.3 many people have announced that they will not buy BF2142.
The second step was the making of the next patch with an open beta, which is funny, because to me this game is too buggy to be a full game. It is more a beta than a complete game. They announced a beta in a time that this whole game should be in beta stages. By the way, every patch they make fixes 100 bugs and adds 200. The numbers are made up, but you can get the idea. They create more bugs than the ones they are fixing. Funny, ridiculous and frustrating at the same time. This just proves who are the amateurs who are responsible for maintaining this game.
Another thing that deeply disturbs me are the stupid expansion and booster packs. I guess that every popular game that EA publishes gets a lot of packs so they can milk some more money out of the community. It happened with Sims, it happens with Sims 2 and now it happens with BF2. Just pathetic.
And one of the most horrid features of this game - RANKED CRAP! This idiotic feature introduced unfair-unbalanced locked weapons and a stupid rank built trash which prevents you from being a commander because you have a lower rank, and crappy players can rape your *** because they use better weapons than the default ones. Moreover, if you pay EA for their crap packs you get godlike weapons. I don't think there is much to explain here. All I can say is omg...
Regarding BF2142 - This "game" is more a modification for BF2 than a complete game. The great importance Dice has given the ranked stuff clearly shows that it is meant for public, and that clans shouldn't really be interested in it. By moving resources to developing this mod in times that BF2 is a broken piece of ****, Dice has proved that they care little for us. After BF2 I don't see any reason for buying and playing this game. For the last year I got too frustrated, and I don't want to get to that position again.
To sum things up, BF2 was from the beginning meant to be trashed. Perhaps it is just a test in EA's/Dice's point of view, and if so, we have payed for it. EA and Dice clearly prefer giving support to the pub community, and this comes at the expense of the clan community. No real competitive scene can survive in a game that is being changed completely every two months. The reduction of BF2's infantry scene from something with a lot of unique features to a boring-simplified CS gameplay was one of the most bad things Iv'e seen in the gaming scene. Moreover, this game is loaded with bugs, stupid ranked system and so on. BF2 was my last EA/Dice game. The murder of BF2 should attract the attention of every true gamer. EA is bad the the gaming scene and should be condemned. I really hope that this opinion will make a difference."
